Ismail the Last Day @ KLPAC

Two weeks ago I went to KLPAC, Sentul for the first time. The purpose I come here is to watch the musical, Ismail the Last Day which some of my blogger friends Aronil, Nick, Charmayne and Min Li are in the cast.

KLPAC

The price for the ticket is RM 40 on weekday and RM 80 on weekends. It was Wednesday so, I got RM 40 ticket. I sat in the 3rd row from the stage. The stage floor was covered with a large Jalur Gemilang. First came in the orchestra members, and then the orchestra conductor. Then the orchestra starts to play the prelude. Okay, okay. Not going to spoil the whole thing.

Before this musical, all I know about Tun Dr. Ismail is Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI). Never have I knows that he was our Deputy Prime Minister to Tun Abdul Razak. He was Home Minister before that whom responsibled for jailing extremist using ISA (Internal Security Act), this was after all after the May 13th riot. He will even jail his own mother if found her to be guilty, he once said.

Back to the musical. For those of you expecting political story in the musical will be disappointed because as the story goes, I found that it is more about Tun Dr. Ismail choices between his family and the country. He already knew that I have cancer before he accept the job as the Deputy Prime Minister when Tun Abdul Razak was elected as Prime Minister. Thus the title, "The Reluctant Politician" a biography of Tun Dr. Ismail which this musical is loosely based on.

The leading actress/singer have a very good vocal. The cast also did a good job. I especially like the Malay dancing scene and the scene from Queens College back in the 40's. While his wife asking him to quit as the Deputy Prime Minister because of his failing health, Tun chose to go on for the future of his country, Malaysia.

The musical starts from after May 13th riot, and the days of Tun Dr. Ismail being the Deputy Prime Minister until his last day. During the Malay dance scene, one can hear a familiar tune back in P. Ramlee's time and also the ending tune is somewhat similar to AM Bank's theme song in the ads.

Taken with Aronil after the performance ended.

While this is not a Broadway production but this is a story that is closer to home. The music is fabulous and the ochestra did a great job. The choreograph while not flawless but somewhat makes the flow. Vocals, I might say is better than some of the new singers that just came out from those reality contest. Today is the last day of Ismail, the Last Day will be showing. Since tomorrow is a public holiday. Why not go to KLPAC and support our local performance art. Click here for more info.

Yo! Sushi, The Gardens, Mid Valley City

Simon Says: 醉酒佬数街灯,不知几盏

After getting my facial at MTM in the Gardens. I heard my stomach's growling. So, I went around and look for food. I passed by Yo! Sushi. I read some review about it but haven't try it yet. So, in I went.

The defacto soya sauce and wasabi.

YO! Sushi is a kaitenzushi (回転寿司) restaurant much like Sushi King, Genki Sushi and Sakae Sushi's concept but it's food here is more towards fusion. Maybe it's because Yo! Sushi is originated from UK.

The summer special menu

Even thought it says Yo! Sushi but there's actually a lot of other ala carte choices. First from the conveyor belt I saw this. Attracted by the bright yellow chrysanthemum. I think the name is Salmon Spinach with Sesame and Chrysanthemum salad. Orange coloured side plate means RM 10.

This is quite a new combination for me. The spinach is drench on Japanese sytle salad sauce. Eaten with the salmon is quite appetizing. The turn off is that I found that the salmon is a bit warm. I mean, I like to eat my raw salmon with a chill. That's the con of kaiten.

Rating: 3/5

Next up. LOL. Another salad. I feel so healthy wtf. Blue colour means RM 5 if not mistaken. Tofu Wakame Salada (Japanese Tofu and Seaweed Salad) I found this salad is a bit bland and the tofu and wakame a bit dry. Good for a monk and someone who's on a diet. I won't take this from the conveyor belt on the next visit.

Rating: 2.5/5

Next, ah, alas a sushi. Tamago Sushi (Egg Sushi). Green means RM 3. Well, all I can say is that this is a total turn off. Looks nice here but once I bit into it there's water coming out from the egg. It's either they put it on the conveyor belt for too long or there's something really wrong with the air-conditioning in the shop.

Rating: 0/5

After some dissapointment Off the belt, I decided to Order now.

And the chef prepares my Order now.

First up from order now. A purple coloured RM 8 sushi. Seared Beef sushi with a dash of mayonnaise. Nothing can go wrong when the beef is seared to that colour. This is the first time I eat beef sushi. Personally I don't think beef makes a very good ingredient for sushi but this one goes quite well with the sushi rice.

Rating: 3.5/5

How can one come to eat sushi without eating a temaki sushi (hand roll sushi). I ordered a Salmon Belly temaki. Crispy nori (seaweed) roll around a meaty salmon belly. Slurp. Enough said.

Rating: 3.5/5

Ah, the last of my order, the much rave about Miso Black Cod. It does live up to the raving. Fat juicy cod meat marinated in sweet miso sauce, which in turn makes it easier to eat without the jelak feeling. Grey means RM 16. The most expensive colour. This dish sure save the day.

Rating: 4/5

Well, some hit and misses. I think it's better to Order now than to eat Off the belt which will guarantee the freshness of the food. It's a bit pricier compared with Sushi Zanmai. I don't mind coming back once in a while for he Miso Black Cod and some of their creative sushi and ala carte.

On the side track:

After a light meal in Yo! Sushi, I went to Starbucks for dessert.

While I was going to the loo, I was taken aback when I saw this sign from far and thought that I mistakenly walk into the female's toilet. Once I look closely, and check, I am in the male's toilet.
Ah, how considerate of the management to warn customer that the opposite sex is now cleaning your loo. So do they have Male cleaner cleaning in the female's toilet and put up a similar notice?

FHM 100 Most Wanted Women Party, The Loft

After the Clorets press conference, I drove down to Heritage Row for FHM 100 Most Wanted Women Party. Since there's still a few hours before the party start, I went up to Nuffnang's new office to lepak. Mike was there too. He got invited to FHM Party as VIP while I have to queue up.

Mike surfing porn blogs in Nuffnang's office.

Nuffnang team is busy in a meeting.

They do need to stock up the fridge though.

Nice view of Heritage Mansion.

About 6 p.m. Mike and I went to the mamak nearby to yum cha while waiting for the 7.30 p.m. party start time. While we're there Jane and Edwin passed by and we asked them to join us because there's still no queue yet at the entrance.

Time to queue up.

Saw Nigel and Kelz at the back of the queue.

After about 30 minutes of wait, we're able to make it inside. Bloody Mike already went in earlier with his VIP pass. Went out the balcony and saw Pietro and Rudy there. With them is Moe Joe.

Delicious finger food was served that night. Two bottles of Carlsberg per person.

Camwhoring with Jane.

Levy Li, Miss Malaysia Universe 2008

Kel Li

Amanda the Panda. Have been bumping into her quite often.

The fehmes Nigel Sia with Levy.

Amber Chia with moi.

Me with Sarah Lian. She's the top most wanted in Malaysia, don't play-play.

Kathy

A nice surprise that night was to bumped into an old friend that I haven't met for a few years. Kathy Wong of Style Magazine (same management as FHM). She previously in Female Magazine.

Celine Yap, another regular in this kind of event.

Belinda Chee

I spotted that they were doing some shoot on the invited most wanted women at one corner, thus I was there to take pictures too. lol.

Vanessa Chong of Amazing Race Asia 2 fame and Mix FM DJ Jay.

After that the party is about to start and all of the celebrity went inside. On the stage MCing for the night were Serena C and Pietro from Mix.FM. Serena C ask three female volunteer to go up the stage to play a game. The game is to pole dance and the pole is Pietro.

Pietro the Pole

Serena C making sure that the participant is touching Pietro.

Amanda is one of the participant

After that it was the guys turn, and Serena C is the pole. Of course, no touching is allowed. I was one of the participant thus no pictures here. I was on stage pole dancing. Buy FHM September issue, and you might be able to see me belly dancing around Serena C. I got a goodies bag for showing my belly on stage -__-

Next game, they asked for 5 volunteers. This time each of them have to down a bottle of Carlsberg fast, after that put it in their pants.

The five drinkers.

After all the fun and games, it is time to introduce the most wanted women in Malaysia. Joe the Chief Editor of FHM gave an opening speech before that.

Joe giving his opening speech

The first most wanted that come up the stage is Belinda Chee.

Jay was the second to come up the stage. Each of them received a trophy from FHM.

Vanessa Chong was next.

Amber Chia catwalk the stage in style. Her catwalk was flawlessly excuted and end with a few great poses. This is the different of a seasoned professional model with others.

Atilia Haron

Sarah Lian, she's the Top Malaysian Most Wanted this year.

Next up is performance by KL Stompers.

Spotted a leng lui in the VIP area, Chelsia Ng.

Spotted two more gorgeous outside in the balcony. Sharon & Irene.

Me camwhoring with Miami Vice sunglasses from the goodies bag I got for pole dancing or belly dancing.

Manage to take pic with Serena C before she calls it a day.

Caught Mike camwhoring with his DSLR.

Mr. Edwin, heard he's still single girls.

Manage to snap a photo with Olivia.

Regina of FHM.

Last but not least, my goodies. Clock wise from the top: Hannah T CD (sexy pics inside), Miami Vice sunglasses, Mooks Jigsaw Puzzle (at first I thought it was T-Shirt -__-) and Speedo All Water Sports Goggles.

Well, if next year FHM have the same party, I'll be the first one to buy the magazine and get the entry pass. Ciao. Hope they photoshop my belly before publishing it in their next issue.
