Pasta Zanmai @ 1 Utama

This is post is from a month ago. Before me and TheNurse went for a haircut in Section 17, we went for lunch at Pasta Zanmai, 1 Utama Old Wing. Pasta Zanmai is just opposite Burger King in the Old Wing, it is inside a Japanese grocery store. If you don't look carefully, you'll miss it.

TheNurse ordered Agedashi Tofu, and Miso Yasai Soup (Yasai = Vegetables), while I ordred my must have Shoyu Ikura and Mentaiko Natto Spaghetti Set which comes with miso soup and salad. I totally forgot that I ordered a set until I see the bill, they forgot to give me the soup and salad :(

As for dessert, we ordered Tiramisu to be shared.

Me before my handsome haircut.

We ordered Ocha by the pot.

Miso Yasai Soup

TheNurse enjoying her soup.

I didn't try the soup but TheNurse like it very much.

Shoyu Ikura (Salmon Fish Roe in Soya Sauce)

As I've said it, Ikura is my favourite and when I see this, I'm in heaven. Even though it is mix with shoyu, it did not over come the taste at all. I'm lovin it ;)

Agedashi Tofu

Next up is the Agedashi Tofu. This is a must try when you come here. The tofu is a bit crispy in the outside and soft in the inside. Eat it with the sauce and the dried cuttle fish (sorry I forgot the Japanese name for the dried cuttle fish) give you a different experience. I even ate it with the Shoyu Ikura but the texture of the tofu and ikura together are just weird. Maybe it's just me.

I ate the tofu with some ikura.

Mentaiko Natto To Onsen Tamago Spaghetti

This is my main, Mentaiko Natto To Onsen Tamago Spaghetti. I especially love their Onsen Tamago (Hot Spring Egg), which is egg cooked as if you are cooking it in a hot spring. Not over cooked and not too raw. I read that to cook this stlye, you have to put salt into boiling water and cook the egg about 5 - 6 minutes.

For those of you that haven't try Natto (fermented soya bean) before it's kind of slimey and the taste is not your usual soya bean. It is an acquired taste. Some can take it some cannot. So, think properly before you order this. As this is spaghetti with Natto, and as with Natto you have to mix it properly before you eat. I also threw in the rest of the Ikura inside.

The mixed

After I finished the spaghetti, I am almost quite full already. Last but not least, the Tiramisu.

Tiramisu

The Tiramisu here is non-alcoholic. Not an expert in cake, it's taste not bad but I tasted better before. All I can say is that it is your normal tiramisu nothing to wow about.

Rating: 3/5

TheNurse digging in the tiramisu

The damage

Overall, it's very comfortable to eat here, although the air-con might be a little bit cold. Service is not bad if they don't forget your miso soup and salad. Ocha (Green Tea) is refillable. There are still a lot of spaghetti in the menu, not to mention Omu Rice (Ommlette Rice). Next time will come to try the Omu Rice. Another good Japanese franchise from Super Japanese Food Group the same people that brought you Rakuzen and Sushi Zanmai.

Ikura is nice if it's fresh. I once tasted "salt-water-like ikura" which was disappointing.
Tiramisu without alcohol??? *shake head* but looks good. Wonder how it would b like without alcohol? *shake head again*

i think rm50 is the norm for a couple's meal at any given outlet nowadays.

the face value has shrunk a lot lately
