翁詩耀 Tee Yau - Another Talented Malaysian at Super Idol

After 李佳薇 (Jess Lee) won 超级星光大道7 (One Million Star), we might have another Malaysian breaking into the grand finale of 超级偶像 5 (Super Idol 5th season), another reality music competition show in Taiwan that is as popular as 超级星光大道 (Superstar Avenue). In come 翁詩耀 (Yong Tee Yau) a 26 years old Malaysian architect by profession, on the latest episode of Super Idol, he's already booked a palce in the final 7, just two or three more rounds away to the grand finale.

Picture of Tee Yau in the early stages.

His style is very different from 李佳薇 Jess Lee. Where Jess Lee is the expert in the vocal, Tee Yau is more like a free style performer. He can play the acoustic guitar while singing. He also had composed some songs that you uploaded on his YouTube channel. His vocal is of course no match if compared with Jess Lee but he has got his own unique style of singing, which is very important for a singer to have his/her own personality to be identifiable in the recording industry.

Here are some of the YouTube video Tee Yau's performance in the past episodes of Super Idol 5. Watch it and see what you think of his singing.

翁詩耀 Tee Yau singing Jason Mraz's "Love For A Child":

翁詩耀 Tee Yau did a very good cover of James Morrison's "You Give Me Something":

翁詩耀 Tee Yau Singing Bee Gees' "I Started A Joke":

翁詩耀 Tee Yau Singing Coldplay's "Yellow":

I like 翁詩耀 Tee Yau Singing singing his own composing "風箏線", when he's singing this song, I kind of see a little bit shadow of 张雨生 (Tom Chang):

He also challenges himself by singing "容易受傷的女人":

He also sang one of my favourite song from 陳綺貞 (Cheer Chen), "還是會寂寞":

Oh, as with Jess Lee, he also sang a Malay (technically an Indonesian :P) song by Ungu "Kekasih Gelapku":

Lastly this is Tee Yau Singing "Die", his own original song (very good this song but the lyrics is a bit dark) in the latest episode PKing with a fellow Malaysian musician and recording artist lol (talk about coincident or perhaps it's purposely set?), that got him a very high remarks from the judges of Super Idol:

Tee Yau after cutting his hair short.

Picture of Tee Yau after the makeover.

It seems that he likes to sing English songs. Well, as a Malaysian he do have to learn Malay and English, Chinese too if he studied in a Chinese Ed School. Also, I think because English song can have more changes in the way of singing not limited by the tone like Mandarin.

He's already have a fan club on Facebook simply named Tee Yau Fan Club. If you want to know more about him, you can go to the links below:

翁詩耀 @ YouTube

Well, hope he'll get into the grand finale and even be the champion of Super Idol 5 and make us Malaysian proud. Getting to this far of Super Idol is already no easy fit. Malaysia have so many talented singers, it's just that the market here for Chinese music is too small for our talent to make it big. That is why most of them have to go to Taiwan or Hong Kong to build a name first before coming back home. Good luck and all the best to you Tee Yau. I can see that the future is bright for Malaysian Chinese Music industry. Malaysia Boleh!!

OMG! Sixthseal Is Being Sued For Defamation!

I can't believe this when I woke up this morning and read the link from The Star Online. It's about a restaurant owner suing Google and a blogger. Then I read the blogger name is Poh Huai Bin which happened to be Sixthseal. I know him personally and this is a bit devastating news for me.

This is the excerpt from The Star Online:

"KOTA KINABALU: The director of a fish head curry restaurant which is recommended by Lonely Planet is suing a blogger and Google for defamation.

Jothys Sdn Bhd director Tharumaraj Sivaperumal filed a RM6mil civil suit at the Kota Kinabalu High Court, naming blogger Poh Huai Bin as the first defendant and California-based Google Inc as the second defendant.

The suit filed on Monday is over allegedly defamatory statements made about Jothys Fish Head Curry Restaurant here which was posted in May last year by Poh, who is originally from Sibu, Sarawak and now resides in Kuala Lumpur."

Huai Bin and I when we went to Penang 2 years ago.

So, if we write a bad review about a restaurant and it's because the food and services is real bad and we could get sued? Now I know why Wilson have to back down on the post he's written about the bad services he got from the restaurant where he held his wedding dinner. Wah, now when we blog about something we can only write all the nice thing about a product or service.

Well, I think I'll just not write anything about the bad service or food that I got if I bumped into any. First, I don't want any defamation lawsuit on my back and second, I don't want to give coverage for the product or service that is bad. Even though it is good to warn people about that.

Here I hope that Huai Bin will come true this suit and able to settle the case out of court. All the best Huai Bin.

A comment from Dabido about this issue left on my Facebook link to this post:

"Okay, some things to know about Defamation (I can't seem to post on your blog, so I will write it here).

First, someone commented that it isn't defamation if it is true. Unfortunately, not so. People can still get sued for telling the trut...h about someone.

However, pleading guilty also isn't always an option (which I think you suggested).

I think SIxth Seal could counter sue. After all, his blog is well established and it is technically a publication (such as a newspaper etc).

Did a comment say he got poor treatment at the restaurant?
If he had dinner with witnesses, then I suggest that he call those witnesses to provide support to the claims in his blog.

Though this is along the lines of 'proving' that what was said was true, there is an aspect of it being a 'review' of the food and service at the restaurant. As a publication he is entitled to writing some truth without fear of recrimination.

He should speak to a lawyer though.

I can't see how the restaurant can sue Google though. That's a bit like suing a TV channel for running an advert to buy a magazine that wrote a bad review.

But, not having read Sixth Seals entry (and not being a lawyer) is difficult for me to give much more advice than I have. Like I said, he should speak to a Lawyer, he might have a winnable case, and someone suing for defamation can be counter sued for many things ... included defamation if it can be proved the restauranteur leaked the law suit to the press in order to generate business. Thus, tarnishing Sixth Seals name in order to get free advertising.

But, this is speculation, so I have no actual concrete advise to give, only general advice based on what might be occurring.
[Does that make sense?]"

Doreen Loo's Facebook Got Hacked, For A While

Those of you that followed the poodle puppy abuser Facebook video that has spread widely will know that netizens found out the girl that is video taping the video's Facebook is Doreen Loo. I was checking my FB and saw a Rojaks shared a link saying that Doreen Loo's Facebook has been hacked and has the privacy settings all set to Everyone.

True enough, once I got into her Facebook, I got to view all her wall comments, browse her photo albums and search for friends in her list. I went through some of the comments on her wall and photo album. Mostly written in Chinese. All of the comments were left just less hour ago, and most of them are scoldings, some even in Chinese vulgar words.

Some of the comments in her FB's Wall:

Comments in her photo album:

I can browse and look at the photo album even though I am not in her friend list.

I saw one comment there saying the album with Sushi the poodle in it was uploaded in July 2010. Hence, the rumour that Sushi died three years ago might not be true.

Then it is widely speculated that the culprit (Doreen's ex boyfriend) is Alan Champ which is in Doreen's friend list. There's still no concrit proof that the culprit is Alan but someone already posted his name and even home address on Facebook.

While what they did is wrong, I think all this is better to leave it to SPCA and the authorities and not takes thing into our own hand like leaving vulgar comment and spreading unconfirmed news. If I am Doreen Loo, I think it is better to contact SPCA to clear things off once and for all and also make a press statement to the media. I wish that Sushi is still alive and healthy and SPCA and the authorities get into this case as soon as possible so that the rumours won't turn into something uglier. Peace.

Selina Jen of S.H.E. Released From the Hospital

After 89 days (燒傷後89日!終於可以出院!) of treating her 3rd degree burn after the filming accident. Selina Jen 任家萱 of S.H.E. is finally released from the hospital and met the media. Her hair is quite short now and she wore clothing that covered all her up except for her face.

Well, she gained 5kg of weight while she's recuperating in the hospital. This means she got her appetite back. Good news. Even in short hair she's still look cute. It's a relief seeing her to be fine. I supported S.H.E. way back in 2001 when they released their debut album "戀人未满".

Selina 出院了!

Snippets form Channel News Asia:

"TAIPEI: S.H.E's Selina Jen faced the media for the first time in a Taipei press conference on Wednesday, 89 days after she was hospitalised for the serious burns she suffered in a filming accident on the set of Chinese drama "I Have A Date With Spring", reported Taiwan media.

Sporting a head of short hair, Jen, whose face appeared to have escaped any serious injury, entered the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital auditorium flanked by her group mates Ella Chen and Hebe Tien, to thunderous applause from the gathered journalists."

陳嘉樺 Ella, 任家萱 Selina and 田馥甄 Hebe at the press conference.

Seems like Selina will have to rest for 1 or 2 year before she'll be able to fully recover and rejoin her group mates Hebe and Ella to perform as S.H.E. again. Great news is that S.H.E. will not be disbanded. Cheer all you fans out there. Also rumour has it that she will be getting marry soon. Her fiance can't wait to marry her. Such a nice guy.

Selina cutting the cake to celebrate her release from the hospital. (Selina灼伤后首度亮相 短发造型当场落泪-selina切蛋糕出院)

You can get more pictures of the Selina press conference here. You can watch the press con video on Tudou here (直击Selina术后首度亮相).

Update: Just found this YouTube Video of the press conference (Selina出院感恩記者會).

Wishing Selina a quick recovery and good health. Hope I will be able to see S.H.E. performing again with all three members Selina, Hebe and Ella soon.

Get a Pizza From Pizza Hut for Only RM 1++

I still remember during Hari Raya I won a Hotlink Hot Ticket from Diese after I commented on her block. Not only that the RM 15 Hot Ticket gives me 120mins of talk time and 300 SMSes to be used up in 10 days. The combined value of the 120 mins talk time and 300 SMSes is RM 60. It's such a bargain.

There's more bargain on the HotTicket. For the Hari Raya HotTicket that I got from Diese, I can use the coupon to exchange for two pieces of KFC chicken free of charge. During this Christmas and New Year season I got another Hotlink HotTicket. After I activated the HotTicket, I can used the coupon to buy a Personal Pan Pizza 6" Family Favourite from Pizza Hut with only RM 1++. Such a bloody bargain.

Be quick, the RM1++ pizza only valid till 31st January 2011.

Jay Chou Malaysia Concert Tickets Still Available!!

I was browsing the web and feeling kind of boring. Not sure what makes me come to TicketCharge website again. It's the online ticketing website for Jay Chou 超时代 2011 World Tour Live in Malaysia which will happen on March 4th and 5th 2011.

I was just randomly checking through the seats plan, knowingly all affordable seats were sold out as I blogged about it here. Which, I thought only the Rock Zone tickets were still available. Checking the seats for the RM333 ticket, I chose L16, all sold out, then I clicked on L15.

I can't believe my eyes because I saw a few blue icons, which means available seats. So, I quickly choose the best seat available and check out. Woot, finally I was able to purchase a Jay Chou concert ticket that is within my budget.

The blue seats are available. Red is the seat I selected.

From what I see there are still some seats left in L15 and L14 for the 4th March 2011 concert. For those of you that still wanna watch the concert can try your luck.

Confirmation email from TicketCharge.

Jay Chou "The Era" (超时代) 2011 World Tour Live in Malaysia Tickets Sold Out !??

I want to go watch Jay Chou "The Era" (超时代) 2011 World Tour Live in Malaysia which will happen on March 4th and 5th 2011. The bad news is all the tickets were sold out during the launch on 27 November at KL Sogo (main entrance).

Concert tickets are priced at RM760 (rock zone), RM480 (VIP), RM330 (PS1), RM230 (PS2) and RM130 (PS3) were sold out it seems. I checked the online ticket agent Ticket Charge and found that it is true that all the seats for RM 480 to RM 130 were all taken up for both 4th and 5th of March.

I try to check the RM760 (rock zone) and found that I can still able to add to the shopping basket. So, does this mean the ticket for Rock Zone is still available? If it is then this is a good news for Jay Chou fans out there. I didn't check out because I don't have RM 763 (RM 3 service charge) to spare lol.

Now I'll be thinking whether to buy the Rock Zone ticket or not but for RM 763 it will surely burn a hole in my wallet. For those of you that capable and a Jay Chou die hard fan can to try your luck on getting the Rock Zone ticket. I'll have to see how much I'll get for year end bonus first then decide whether to purchase the Rock Zone ticket or not T_T

It Is Kenny Sia and Not Paul the Octopus...

that correctly predicted a winning set of number for Magnum 4D. What is meant as a joke when Kenny photoshoped Paul the Octopus predicting the outcome of the top 3 prizes for Magnum 4D turn out to be real for some punters.

The doctored picture from KennySia.com

I read the news in today's Oriental Daily News (东方日报), which roughly states that some punters really went and buy the three sets of number put in by Kenny in his doctored picture of Paul the Octopus. Not only that, one set of the number 9398 came out Special Prize in Magnum 4D. Special prize pays 1 to 200, which means buying RM 1 will win you RM 200.

The report from Oriental Daily News

It's a wonder what 4D punters will do when it comes to placing a bet. Even when they clearly knows that the picture is meant as a joke, they will go and put their money on it. Well, turns out their bets did win them something lol. So, Kenny what numbers will come out on the next draw?

Jolin Tsai (蔡依林) and Jay Chou (周杰伦) 复合 Back Together?

Double J which means Jolin Tsai 蔡依林 and Jay Chou 周杰伦. It's been 6 years after they broke up that they've never been seen together performing or going on the same stage or TV program. Just recently, Jolin is the mystery special guest performing at Jay Chou's Taipei Concert 2010.

So many fans will be asking, are they back together (雙J复合) again after so many years? So if they are really back together again, will the fans of both support or against it? Well, whether they support or against it, I don't think they will care if they really are together again. I wonder what will the die hard fan of Jay Chou think of it. LOL.

Jolin Tsai and Jay Chou performing at the latter's concert in Little Dome, Taipei.

Watch the videos of them performing in the concert:

If you are a fan of Jolin 蔡依林 or Jay 周杰伦 will you be supporting this relationship or against it? As for me, I think it's good for them. They are both so successful in the music industry and also King (天王) & Queen (天后) of music in Taiwan. Quite match mah. Well, it's still too far to say whether they are back together again or not. So let's see if the papparazi has more juicy stuff to give us.

Commercial Break:

Sami Khedira will likely replace Michael Ballack in midfield for Bearmany in the World Cup. Well, let's hope Khedira is what as they say a hidden gem with a lot of potential. With the experienced captain of Bearmany out of the game, I hope that this new up and coming midfielder will live up to the job.

Talking about up to the game. A reader of mine is really up to the game in collecting the Celcom Blue Bear. He left a comment in two of my Celcom posts:

Ong Tee Keat Out! Kong Chor Ha In!

Our beloved PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak just did a cabinet reshuffle today. Well, true enough as expected Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat will not be continued as the Transport Minister (as expected after he lost his MCA Presidency to Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek). He is replaced by Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha.

So now the question is, what will happen to the following up of the Port Klang Free-trade Zone (PKFZ) billions ringgit scandal. Will it be just swept under the carpet? We want the culprit to be charged. That's our hard earned tax money. I hope Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha will continue to pursue this issue that started by the former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

Looking at the list of the new faces in the cabinet, it's kind of funny how some of them are chosen to hold the ministerial post. Some of them of course used the backdoor away of being appointed as senator to be in the cabinet.

The new ministers in the cabinet after the reshuffle source from The Star Online:

1. Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha appointed Transport Minister replacing Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

2. Datuk Chor Chee Heung appointed Housing and Local Government Minister. The post was previously held by Kong.

3. Chua Tee Yong appointed Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister

4. Senator Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai appointed Deputy Finance Minister.

5. Gan Ping Sieu appointed Deputy Youth and Sports Minister

6. Senator Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz is Deputy Information Minister

7. Datuk G. Palanivel is Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister

8. Datuk Richard Riot is Deputy Foreign Minister

9. Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim is Deputy Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister

10. Jelaing anak Mersat is Deputy Transport Minister

11. Datuk Lee Chee Leong is Deputy Home Minister

12. Seven people, including two MPs, appointed Deputy Federal Territories Ministers

Gizmodo Editor's Computers Seized by Police

Wow. Talk about something that you can blog and something you can't blog about. Apparently after Gizmodo.com posted about the "lost iPhone 4G prototype" that Gizmodo paid USD $5,000 for, the editor of Gizmodo.com, Jason Chen is now facing problem with the law.

Latest report from CNN that "Police seize computers from Gizmodo editor"

Snippets from CNN:

"A search warrant posted by Gizmodo says police on Friday seized computers, cameras, hard drives, business cards and computer servers from the home of Jason Chen, the site's editor who last week published details about Apple's unreleased smartphone.

The warrant, issued by a judge in California's San Mateo County, says police were able to raid Chen's home because they had reason to believe his computers were used to commit a felony. The warrant makes specific reference to the unreleased iPhone 4 and gives police the authority to look for e-mails and other documentation related to the gadget."

So, if it's something (source/prototype/etc) that one have gotten through informal ways and published it on the Internet, then one might have to face the consequences. This is especially true if you are dealing with patented technology products from big company such as Apple.

Well, I salute Jason Chen for his guts to publish what he want and know that his readers will want to read even though it could land himself in the hot soup. Hope Apple won't be too harsh on this issue, it's not Jason who lost the next generation iPhone prototype in the first place.

Stephen Chan (陈志云) Arrested By ICAC

Updates: It seems that the first hand news I got from 98.8 FM is not that accurate. The latest from The Standard is that Stephen Chan is milking money from TVB and TVB's artists by setting up a shell outsourcing company. Since he's the GM, the artists can't helped but to do job for the shell company for free or very little pay. The shell company will then collect the money from clients on the artists' behalf, pocketing all the money or most of it.

The shell company also get money for doing production work for TVB in a few of it big shows such as the Jade Singers Celebrate TVB Anniversary in October. Each shows the shell company pocketed hundred of thousands of dollars without even doing any real production work because the production is again outsourced to another real production company with a lower price of course.

This sound so much like the Little Napoleans and cronies in our BN government. Get a contract through connection using a shell company with a very high price and outsourced it out in a very low price to a real company that is doing the real job. I guess this kind of people is everywhere and not only in Malaysia huh. LOL.

Previously written:

I heard from 98.8 FM last evening that Stephen Chan (陳志雲) the General Manager of Broadcasting of Hong Kong TVB was arrested by ICAC (equivalent to our MACC but I think ICAC is much better) on a suspicion that him and 2 other top management of HKTVB bribed the officers in Hong Kong Broadcasting Department so that no new license on free to air TV will be given out to new comers. Well, he’s innocent until proven guilty but I doubt that ICAC will make the arrest without a strong evidence to build a strong case against them.

The bosses of the big four recording company must be laughing right now because Stephen Chan has been the bottle neck of the royalties issue between HKTVB and the big four. The issue started late last year and was never resolved. Both parties stand on firm ground. HKTVB even get to the stage to cut all appearance of all the singers from the big four recording companies. Singers like Kay Tse, Eason Chan, Hacken Lee, and those that come under the big four were boycott by HKTVB, refusing to give interview or any air time to the singers. Only EEG’s artists and TVB’s own artist were seen on TVB’s channels for the last couple of months.

So with Stephen Chan’s position been suspended by the Board of Director of HKTVB, will this royalties issue resolved? Actually this boycott is kind of a blessing for the other broadcasting stations in Hong Kong like Cable TV and HKATV, which previously all singers were exclusives under HKTVB and cannot appear on any other TV stations in Hong Kong. But this is not good for the singers. For example, after Kay Tse appears on Cable TV’s game show, HKTVB cut all her husband’s shows in TVB, flexing their monopoly muscle. So to keep the monopoly, the General Manager and top management has to resort to bribing to prevent any competition? And they say Hong Kong is a free market. LOL. I guess there won't be anymore 志云饭局 in the future.
