A Chance To Bring Your Idea To Live

Well, technically it is your idea for a mobile app. Have you ever faced a scenario where you would have wished someone has written a mobile app for that? Back in the heyday before mobile phone turned smart, I always have this frustration of having a tune playing in my head but can't seems to remember what song it is. Nowadays, one can easily find out what song is that by just humming the tune to mobile app like Shazam or SoundHound.

Well, there's your chance to get your frustration out of the way. If you have a problem that you'll like to have a mobile app to fix it for you then why not just have it created for you? To do this, we will have Digi - Challenge for Change in the picture.

There are two phase for this initiative. There first phase is Ideation Challenge, which is happening from 27 November 2013 till 18 January 2014. This phase is where you and I will be able to submit an idea for the app that you think will be able to help you when using your smartphone. If your idea is finalized as the top 4 idea, you'll win RM 5,000 and a smartphone. Not only that, top 4 ideas will be chosen to be developed in the App Development Challenge phase starting from 24 January 2014 till 24 April 2014. This is the phase your idea comes to life.

So, you think you have a great idea for a mobile app? Go to http://www.digifc.my and follow 4 simple steps to join the challenge.

First, login with either you Twitter, Facebook or Google Plus account.

After that, filled in some of your personal detail. Name as per in your MYKAD not your nickname because if you win you need to proof that you are the contestant, right? Unless you've changed your name in your MYKAD to your nickname.

Step 3, write out your mobile app idea. You don't have to write a thesis, just simple straight to the point. Get your creative juice running.

By the way, there are four categories you can choose from. Be sure to choose carefully which category your app belongs to.

Finally, click "Submit" to submit your idea. You can submit more than one idea.

Why Maybank should give me tickets to Legoland

Now, really why Maybank should give me tickets to Legoland? Simple. I'm a loyal Maybank customer. I have a Maybank savings account and could be my one and only savings account. All the bank savings account I have or had are inactive. I pay my bills using Maybank2u Online Banking. I then went on to applied for the Maybank 2 Platinum Card, which gives me Maybankard 2 American Express® Card and Maybankard 2 MasterCard. I get 5% rebate on anything I spent during the weekeng using Maybankard 2 American Express® Card. Nice, right?

Moving on to some investment, I started buying gold by opening Maybank Gold Investment Account, which I can buy and sell conveniently using my Maybank2u Online banking facility. Seeing that the price of silver is still very low and currently there's a chance to win RM 10,000 worth of silver deposit, I opened a Maybank Silver Investment Account. Just a month ago, I started a Maybank Online Stocks trading account so that I can invest in public listed company without going through a remisier. The charges are quite low too if compared with the conventional stocks trading. Not only that, I also have an Endowment Plan with Maybank's subdiary Etiqa for my insurance need.

I am one very loyal customer here with so many product and services. So, if Maybank is giving out tickets to Legoland, I should be one of the recipient. Another reason is because I didn't get to play with Lego much when I was a child, just like Marcky, I was a Lego deprived child. I need to payback my Lego-less childhood by playing with all the Lego rides and attractions there. I'll also bring me back with some awesome Lego set to play with. Two or three Lego Technic sets will be nice. Of course, I'll use my Maybankard 2 American Express® Card to pay for it on a weekend so that I could get 5% rebate from Maybank ;)

Now, show me the tickets! Maybank.

Your Friendly Neighbourbood Cockroach-man

If I were given a chance, I would want to get the power of cockroach. Yuck, some of you might say but I have reasons to choose cockroach.

Firstly, cockroach has strong exoskeleton that if it was in human size, it might withstand a hit with a force of thousands of Newton Meter. Which means I can take a lot of hit form Sandman, Lizard, and whatever strong villain.

Cockroach can survive the harshest environment there is and study reported cockroach can with stand a high amount of radioactive exposure and still live. If I was to be captured and was thrown in a deserted island or a faraway dessert, I can survive without food or water for a very long time. I can even eat inorganic materials such as newspaper, sand and whatnot to keep alive. Survivability is the key in being a hero.

With the power of a cockroach, I can easily slip through small openings or cracks and surprise the villain. Think Tooms from The X-files. Climbing up wall or ceiling is not a problem.

Given time, I will be able to grow wings and be a flying cockroach-man. Who needs web to swing when you can fly? Really Spidey, I heard you'll be swinging by this 3rd of July. Want to see who's faster?

Well, there's only one thing I need to improve on.

My costume! I might need to redesign it. In the mean time, this has to work. No matter how I look, I'm still your friendly neighbourhood Cockroach-man. Peace!

Watch UEFA Cup Semi-final in Europe!

A few weeks ago I went to take a glimpse of the UEFA Cup trophy that made it to our shore for a tour. Thanks to Carlsberg, I get to go in for a closed door session for the media first before it's open to the public.

We were given by a surprise visit by Peter Schmeichel. He was one of the greatest Danish goalkeeper in football history. Manchester United fans will surely know him because he's a former ManU player.

Joining the launch of the UEFA Cup trophy with Calrsberg Malaysia's Managing Director, Sven Goren and Peter Schmeichel are the ambassador of Poland and Ukraine. Both countries are the co-host of UEFA Cup 2012.

Up close and personal with the trophy. I don't dare to touch it because there were four armed guards guarding the trophy. =P

There's a girl dressed in Polish traditional costume.

Now there's a chance for you to win an all-expenses paid trip to watch the UEFA Cup Semi-final live in Europe. To find out more on how to win, click here. Good luck!

Marvel’s The Avengers

I am Matter Maestro. The latest member of The Avengers. I joined after Spider-man decided to restart his whole life again to when he haven't become Spider-man. Oh, good that he finally realized that his web doesn't comes out from under his skin.

Okay. Let's get back to The Avengers. Being a new kid on the block, surely the other members will have doubt about my ability. Especially the arrogant Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man and the more than 90 year old but still look like he's in his 20s' Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America. "So, what kind of power you got that made you qualified to join The Avengers, My-ass what?", asked Tony while sniggering.

"Well, Tony. Basically I'm not a genius or a playboy or a billionaire but I do contribute monthly to World Vision. Jokes aside. You can say that I am the master of mass in their atomic form. I can change my mass property into solid, liquid or gas form.", I replied.

"I can solidify my mass until it is as strong as Adamantium. Even bullet made with diamond can't go through me when I solidified myself. I might be the only one that can take on Wolverine's claws with my bare hand when I'm solidified. I think your armour won't stand a chance if I punch you with my solidified knuckle.", I continued with Dr. Bruce Banner looking at me with a face of curiosity.

I can also turn myself in to liquid form. In this form any attacks on me will be a waste because it will only goes through. I can drown someone by covering his or her face with my hand. I can also slip through any piping or hide inside watery surrounding for infiltration and escaping.

Last but not least I can turn into gas form which will be barely visible or easily detectable because I've mixed with the air. Most important of all, I can traveled into Loki's hideout through the ventilation and spy on his secrets. Once I got to know the weakness of his armies and sabotage his mind control. We, The Avengers will stand a greater chance to win this war and save the world.

By the way, I can modified any inorganic thing's form too. So really, your amour is useless when facing me. Come, come. We have a movie to catch this April 27th and I might be able to watch it a day earlier.

Tiger Asian Music Festival 2012 Contest - Part 2

I know, I know you've been waiting until neck long for the 2nd part of the contest to win a pair of tickets to Tiger Asian Music Festival 2012. I'm not gonna says which artiste will be performing here again. You can read it in part 1 and also get the question for the contest I'm running on my blog.

Here are some useful tips for any new festival goers, Tiger has come up with their 5 top tips to get the most out of Tiger AMF.

1) Make Sure You Get Your Tickets NOW! Due to an overwhelming response, 20,000 digital tickets already have been snapped up since its release on 9 March 2012. Fret not, fans still stand a chance to win the remaining exclusive invites by participating in MY FM on-air promotion. (No worries. I have 5 pairs to give away here if you join my blog contest.)

2) Meet New People. One of the best parts about the Tiger AMF experience is meeting and being around new groups of people. Take the opportunity to interact with other festival-goers and share a Tiger beer or two with your new friends.

3) Combine Comfort With Fashion. Don’t forget, Tiger AMF is a street music festival at the beach! Beachwear is the dress-code, so get ready to dance in the sand with a high chance of getting drenched! High heels are probably not the best idea, unless they are water-proof!

4) Get There Early. With Paul Wong and Ka Keung (Beyond), LMF, Jam Hsiao, A-Lin, A-Yue, MC Hotdog, as well as ManHand all performing on the night, it’s better to be at Tiger AMF early than finding out you’ve missed out on your favourite artists.

5) Relax and Have a Good Time! The most important thing to bring to Tiger AMF is a good attitude. You’re there to have fun, so get out there and enjoy it!

The Tiger AMF 2012 is strictly for music fans who are above 18 years of age. The event partners include MY FM, Durex, Cathay Pacific, The Swagger Salon (LANSI), and Mint.
Do not miss out the opportunities to win exclusive invites to the most happening Asian musical event of the year! All you need to do is to log on to www.ilikeAMF.com.my for more information, and get ready to party with Tiger!

Now, for the contest.

Part 2 Question:
Name two of the Tiger Asian Music Festival 2012 partners.

Send in your answers together for Part 1 and Part 2 before 11:59 p.m. 10th April 2012. Please refer to Part 1 for the details. Good luck and all the best. Winners will receive my email on where and when to collect the tickets on 11th April 2012.

Tiger Asian Music Festival 2012 Contest Part 1

Hey hey hey. Chinese music fans, good news. Tiger Asian Music Festival is back. I went to last year's TAMF and it's great! This time the concert will be brought from indoor to the “Street” at Sunway’s Surf Beach on the 14th April 2012, Tiger has upped the ante once again, with an outdoor music and lifestyle festival with the best of the best of urban Asian artists to complement the progressive nature of Tiger AMF 2012. As the singers and their sounds are all coming from the urban genre, expect to hear some one-of-a-kind collaborations between the finest that Asia has to offer.

From Malaysia, there's my favourite local hip-hop group Manhand once again performing.

Manhand's members (MC Bee, Von, Daeren, MC Toy and DJ Point) all have their own distinct characters. This has had a significant influence on their self-produced debut album, ManHanD, giving its music a uniqueness that stands out from other hip-hop/rap albums. Their one-of-a-kind sound and artistry has been recognised at the 2008 PWH Music Awards, where they won Best Group, Best Song and Best Album Design accolades. Since then, they have continued to shine, clinching the Best Chinese Singers of Malaysia Award at the GCMA Music Awards and having a string of hits on both local and international music charts.

Other Asian line up for TAMF 2012 are:

Hong Kong:

Paul Wong and Wong Ka-Keung 黄贯中 & 黄家强 (Beyond)
LMF (the Canto hip-hop group that Manhand look up to)

Taiwan:
Chang Chen-Yue 张震岳
Jam Hsiao 萧敬腾
A LIN
MC Hotdog

Good news for those that is reading this post. I got 5 pairs of Tiger Asian Music Festival 2012 ticket to give away. All you have to do is answer two questions and then send your answer to yyseow[at]gmail[dot]com. The first question will be asked here in the part 1 of the contest. Look out of the 2nd question in the part 2 post next week. The first five that send in the correct answers for both questions and will win a pair of tickets to TAMF 2012 worth RM118.

Part 1 Question:

Name me three artistes that will be performing in Tiger Asian Music Festival 2012 this coming 14th April.

Remember you have to collect the answers for Part 1 and Part 2 only then send in your entry. Please state your full name, IC no. and mobile no. Put in the subject "TAMF 2012 Contest".

Good luck.

Nuffnang Turns 5!

Wow. Time flies!!! It was like yesterday when I went to Nuffnang First Birthday Bash - Nuffnang Pajamas Party. After that I was looking forward for annual Nuffnang birthday bash but, I have to be dissapointed to wait until year end the next year because Nuffnang decided to put in their resources into the 1st Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards, which I was lucky enough to be invited to join the fun in Singapore. Then the next year, no birthday bash too. Then last year it's the 2nd NAPBAS and of course yours truly was there too.

Alas!! This year, Nuffnang Birthday Bash is back. Y U TOOK SO LONG??

How will Nuffnang Stickman celebrate his 5th birthday? Oh, well. First, of course he'll need some booze. Recently I tasted Moet & Chandon Rose before and I think it's perfect for celebration. Pop one or two dozen bottles of the champagne with all the invited bloggers would be nice start.

Because Nuffnang Stickman is so famous among the bloggers. He should setup a line for the bloggers to camwhore with him using instamax/polaroid and then all the pictures will be put on the Nuffnang Wall.

Imagine Boss Ming is Nuffnang Stickman.

Prizes! Is a must in a birthday bash. But as Nuffnang tradition, it will be Nuffnang Stickman giving out prizes to some lucky bloggers instead of bloggers giving him the prizes =P

What's a party without some games? Let it be more extreme than the one in Nuffnang Pajamas Party. Taking off cloth is not enough now, Nuffnang Stickman. What about cross-dressing?

Maybe Nuffnang Stickman should also ask Boss Stewie to bring his bolster to the party again this time and let Mrs. Tiah hit him with it. Ok. Just kidding.

Nuffnang Stickman should again invite a French Maid, Police Woman, and a Nurse to usher us bloggers. This time maybe change that to cosplay popular Anime character such as Miku from Vocaloid.

I'm sure Nuffnang Stickman will invite famous bloggers like Cheesie to make the party merrier.

It's a must for Nuffnang Stickman to call up Chipster Girl to come and join the fun.

Why?

Because Chipster Girl is now Miss Universe Singapore 2011.

Last but not least, please invite EnerG too because he haven't been partying for a very very long time already. Pretty please.

Happy 5th Anniversary Nuffnang!!

Blackie and I in Samurai Showdown

When I was still in high school, there was this fighting arcade game called Samurai Showdown that I used to play. In there, there was a character named Galford D. Weller. He's an American Ninja. He's fighting style is of course using Ninjistsu, something like Naruto, the can fake being hit and turn into a piece of wood. On top of using his Ninjistsu, he also has a pet Siberian Husky named Poppy that will charge towards enemy when he calls out "Go! Poppy".

Gerald and Poppy

That time I always imagined myself as the character and has a pet dog that will charge towards enemy at my command. I will go on an adventure of traveling around the world challenging different samurais and ninjas and my pet dog, let's call him Blackie, will fight by my side and do straight charge, teleport on top of enemy, and create illusions of myself to confuse the enemy. So cool right to have a pet dog that can do Ninjitsu.

Well, of course that was just my day dreaming. In reality, Blackie don't even know how to play fetch. All he knows is 'sit', 'hand', and 'down'. He is one strong dog though and like to jump at people that he likes. But I did teach him to do Wing Chun once :p

Doing Wing Chun wtf

Speaking of adventure. There will be one adventure that I wouldn't miss next month. That will be The Adventures of Tintin in 3D which will be premiering on 10th November 2011. It's one of my all time favourite comic made into movie. I watched the trailer in cinema, and this freaking good.

If you are fan of Tintin, then you shouldn't miss the opportunity to win some cool merchandise from United International Pictures Malaysia (UIP).

UIP will be running a fantastic online treasure hunt, where you get to exercise those detective skills you have and stand to win awesome prizes!

Here’s what you stand to win.

Grand Prize: Holiday Package (worth RM 7,500) + 1 pair of Gold Class Tix + Exclusive Merchandise
1st Runner-up: DSLR (worth RM 2,500) + 2 pairs of tix + Exclusive merchandise
10x Consolation Prize: 2 pairs of tix + Exclusive merchandise

Contest starts 31st October 2011. So, get ready! Click here for the contest page.

My Nuffnang Story

I started blogging actively back in December 2007 and back then I already signed up for a Nuffnang account and serve Nuffnang ads in this blog of mine even before I have more than 20 unique visitors daily. Nuffnang has just started operation for a few months back in 2007 but already they have quite many bloggers signed up. Before that I thought Nuffnang is spelled Nuffang :p Never did I know that by joining Nuffnang I will get to meet a lot of other bloggers in the community. The first Nuffnang event that I went to is Nuffnang 1st Birthday Bash, which they themed it as "Nuffnang Pajama Party" that happened on 15th of March 2008. At that time, there are only Nuffnang Malaysia and Nuffnang Singapore, so the party is held in KL and Nuffnang brought two buses load of Singapore bloggers here. I get to met not only bloggers from Malaysia but from Singapore too. Isn't it cool. I also remember Valerie (the newly crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2011) then won the Best Pajamas, she made her pajamas with Chipsters packets. I also get the opportunity to see some very famous bloggers like Kenny Sia, Xia Xue and Dawn Yang.

I still remember that Ringo was still competing in Malaysian Dreamgirl at that time. They were there to make an appearance for the online reality show. So, she was so happy to be able to meet her blogger friends because she has stay in a house with the other 11 girls during the show. Cindy (winner) and Hanis (2nd runner up) were in the same reality show too. They are now very famous bloggers themselves and they both signed up with Nuffnang too.

From left, Hanis, Adeline, and Cindy (they cut her long hair during makeover)
That was also the time I first met with Spinzer. He's the web admin for Cheeserland.com while she's locked away in the show. He came up to me to exchange email so that I can send him the picture I took for Ringo with Xia Xue.
Xia Xue and Ringo
After I got a taste of event organized by Nuffnang, I tried to join each and every event. Also, I get the opportunity to go to event organized by Nuffnang's client such as the first Hennessy Artistry I went to and many more Henessy Artistry events later. Down the road, there are so many events like "Nuffnang Wild Live Blogging Party", "Nokia Nuffnang Silent Halloween", "LG Blog Launch", "Tiger Nuffnang Standout Party", "Ogawa Bloggers Gathering" and a lot more that I am lazy to write down here :p
Nuffnang Wild Live Blogging with Zoe

Wingz trying to hit me with my Crocs while I was testing the Ogawa massage chair
I got my first taste of doing advertorial when I was chosen to take part in the Mr. Potato campaign. My leader was Nicole. After that I got a lot of opportunity in covering events like Urban Hulk and even the official blogger for Malaysian Dreamgirl Season 2. I was quite actively doing advertorial from then onwards, which earned me a four figure side income for two years. Not bad for a small potato blogger like me. I even get to go on a sponsored trip to Singapore Grand Prix 2010 and visit Team Lotus garage pit.

Besides events, I also had the chance to go to a lot of movie screenings for free thanks to Nuffnang, some movies are shown a week before the official premiere date. Sometime I get to attend press screening which is movie screening only for the media, a privilege previously only for journalists, radio DJs and TV station. One of the most unforgettable Nuffnang event that I was able to join is the 1st Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards back in 2009. It was held in Singapore and we bloggers from Malaysia filled up three buses to go across the Causeway. Best of all, it's an all paid trip from transport to accommodation to tour of Singapore. Oh, how I miss the trip. By that time Nuffnang has already expanded to Australia and Philippine.
Pic with Xia Xue at NAPBAS 2009
Joanne Peh won the Best Celebrities Blog. Not everyday I can take pic with a SG celebrity ;)
Joining Nuffnang really change my lifestyle a lot. I from someone that stays at home most of the time to someone that has become a "social animal" as what Nicole always call me. Because of the Nuffnang events, parties and screenings, I get to know a lot of people and meet some celebrities in the process. I also get to go to different activity like sharing session, concert, food hunt and etc, especially after the forming of Nuffnang Glitterati Plus Malaysia. I was lucky to be selected as one of the pioneer member of GPlusMY. Most of the bloggers I met are in my 1055 of friends in my Facebook account. Every time I will meet new people in the events that I went to and the age of the people I met is getting younger and younger. Made me feel young too wtf. I have slowed down a bit in the events and screenings nowadays but still I can't the thank Nuffnang enough for the monetary and non-monetary benefits that it gave me during this four years of blogging. This is My Nuffnang Story. Come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers from around the Asia-Pacific region will flock to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011 in Putrajaya Marriott. The Awards aims to not only honour the region's best bloggers, but also to bring together blogger communities from across Asia-Pacific. The Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards is brought to you by Volkswagen Malaysia and Putrajaya Marriott. Hopefully this will get me an invite to the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011. *fingers crossed*
