Envy Club, Solaris Mon't Kiara - The Tour

Just got back from Envy Club for the media tour. I was supposed to go to the bloggers tour at 9 p.m. but I have to work at 8 p.m. so I went for the 6.30 p.m. media tour instead. After the invited media reached, Zai the Comm & Media Relations of Envy Management S/B took us on a tour of this soon to be open new club in town. Strategically located at SoHo, Solaris, Mon't Kiara. One thing I like about going to club in Solaris is that there's a vast basement parking and don't have to bear with the traffic as in KL city center.

There's a nice al fresco area outside with big sofas for those that doesn't dig loud club music and prefer to have a bit of chit chat with friends.

The main floor is filled with tables with devil Envy sign on it. More place to seat and put the booze but less space to dance. Well, we can always dance near our seats lol.

The bartender is nice to show us a trick or two on the shaker.

In front of the DJ counter is a stage where performer will perform. According to Zai, each night there will be different theme, so be sure to expect different performer and DJ doing their gigs here in Envy Club.

We were lucky enough to be able to watch Shawn Lee doing a preview his b-boxing performance that he'll be performing on the opening night. Damn, he's good. He got 9th place out of 45 contestant in the recent World B-boxing Championship representing Malaysia.

RSVP here for the opening night and you can see Shawn's full b-boxing performance.

Going up the stairs is the VIP area with sofas. There's a transparent bridge in the middle. So, girls if you wear skirts please try not to cross this bridge because you might not know who's might be looking up.

I can see the tables below from the bridge so I think the people below can see what's above too.

There's another stairs from the side entrance leading to Casa Envidia (opening next month). This is a place for Champagne, Wine, Cigar and Tapas. Sounds like a place Ei Ling will like.

Cupboard fills with Spanish cigar made in Philipines and of course Cuban cigar.

Very comfortable leather sofa just for a few customer to sit. This room is not very big. It's a good place to relax, have a glass of Champagne, a puff of cigar and enjoy some Tapas.

Wine cellar stocked with white and red wines and Champagne.

It was time for dinner after the tour. I say the food served is one of the better ones than most other events I went to.

The best is we were spoiled for choice with a variety of free flow booze. Whiskey, vodka, gin, red wine, and white wine. I'm one happy man.

Shawn Lee the B-boxer.

SarChan and Jessica were there too on assignment for KLue and Juice respectively.

Grand Lauching of Tasty Pot, Sunway Mentari

I was invited again to Tasty Pot not long ago by Tim. Besides of having the nice meal of steamboat, it is also the launching of Tasty Pot opening of the 1st floor, 2nd floor and 3rd floor. Yes, loads of space that can cater for more customer.

The whole area was decorated with balloons.

There's even lion dance and dragon dance performance.

I took the lift to the 3rd floor and then walk up the stairs to the roof top and took the picture below. Yes, it's blur, that's the best my camera can do. There's also a group of car audio enthusiast playing loud music to comemorate the launching.

I was late so they started eating already. Wilson was already doing live blogging using his laptop. There's free WiFi in Tasty Pot.

I had a bit of crabs.

Rebecca got us some grilled fish from the grilling area. Tasted OK.

Half way enjoying my meal, suddenly I was attacked by the dragon and the lion. LOL.

I find that the snails is quite interesting to eat. Not for the faint hearted though.

Grilled sausages.

Paired one with two empty snail shells and you'll get a whole new definition.

Align Center

Well, from now on no more waiting for tables in Tasty Pot, even on weekends. Read more about the food in my previous visit here, if you're interested.

District 9

After a few years of doing King Kong, the director of Lord of the Ring trilogy, Peter Jackson is finally back with another film that is literally out of this world (even though he's the producer this time not the director, still rawks right? I heard the producer has more power uh umh). Most of us sci-fi fans would have heard of Area 52 and all those US government conspiracy. That's old news, welcome District 9, where No Humans Allowed. So it's finally proven there's alien life form there and they don't come in peace. Co-written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, from the look of the poster alone I will be attracted to watch it.

Thanks to Sony Pictures Malaysia and Nuffnang, I might be able to watch it a day before it opens in the cinema on 13th August 2009. So please let Seow Lang fly into District 9 and save the Dimple in Distress from the aliens. Go here if you're Nuffnang Gliteratti.

"I want to be in District 9 because I have to turn into Seow Lang and save Dimple in Distress from the aliens in there."

Meet the Ruumz Mate & BestFoodJunction.com Launch

Recently, I have had events schedule that clashes with each other. If the venue is totally east and west then I'll have to forgo one. It seems that I was always lucky that the two events that almost happening at the same time were held in venues that is walking distance from each.

I dropped by Sanctuary, The Curve first at around 6.30 p.m. to register myself for the Meet the Ruumz Mate party organized by Ruumz. I get a coupon for a bottle of Heineken ;)

As always the usual suspect, Serge is always early like me.

Very professionally organized, they have tag for blogger and media. Yes, blogger and media are two different entity. Blogger is individual while media is an organization. Blogger has lower readership than most mainstream media unless you're blogger such as Jeff Ooi, Kenny Sia or Rin. Ah, but you won't get a full page post from the media, for magazine it might only be half a page only with pictures and for the national paper it might be stuck somewhere in the pulled out. For a blogger, it will be quite an extensive coverage of the events with links and such. If the blogger like the organizer so much he/she might even put it up for 2 days without any new post, so that it will always be the first post the viewer will see. Hence the pro and con.

Me with my blogger pass.

Sponsoring the hairdo for that evening is Hair Zone by Michael Poh, a very popular hairstylist among the celebrities. Sponsoring the broadband for you to vote for the Ruumz Mate is P1 Wimax featuring Wiggy that give you up to 10 Mbps connection. Faster cover my area in Taman Sri Sinar too P1. I've checked, my house is still not covered T_T

Makeup artist putting up makeup for the contestants. Even male have to be makeup for their best appearance.

I will gladly signup for P1 if these two girls asked me to.

The finalists but not all of them are here. Ellie didn't come that night.

At about 7.30 p.m. I have to make my way to Royale Bintang Hotel, The Curve for the grand launching of BestFoodJunction.com. It's a magazine that recommend the best place you can find nice food.

Of course, the grand launching of a food magazine is not complete without food. They've invited some of their clients to setup counter there to serve they specialty to the guests there.

Going to both events is really great because I get food here and booze there lol.

Food from Yaki-yaki.

One of my favourite that night is the avocado dip which I think is provided by the Royale Bintang. I have a soft spot for avocado.

Stop food for awhile, it's time for the CEO to give his speech. His name is KY, I was knock back a bit when I first heard of the announcement. His surname is Chia, not Teoh.

After the speech, is the popping the champagne time.

It's time for dessert.

The very limited mango pastry from Zen by Secret Recipe. Luckily I was fast to get one. It was all gone 10 minutes later.

My favourite dessert of the night is of course the one below. See the queue?

I only manage to eat two scoops. Very full already by that time.

Who don't like New Zealand Natural ice-cream?

Coffee making tools and classes available.

I bumped into some fellow foodies there too. Tim, Rebecca, Rachel, BabeKL, and PureGlutton. Poor BabeKL had a very serious case of coughing that she lost her voice and can't eat New Zealand Natural ice-cream. Don't worry, I'll eat more of it for you lol.

It's at about 9.30 p.m. after filling up my stomach with delicious food, I have to rush back to Sanctuary. I've missed the catwalk and they were doing lucky draw already when I reached there.

Calling once, calling twice...

I've spotted a counter like the one below, which is actually giving out freshly rolled tobacco mixed.

I then took the opportunity to take picture with the female finalists.

Amanda was one of them. No prize for guessing whom I voted for.

Huai Bin was there too with his colleagues. He gave me some more Heineken coupon. While sitting with them, the ordered more Heineken. OMG. I had almost 6 to 7 bottles already.

With Huai Bin's colleagues. Siew Hui and Cherry. They were as fun as Huai Bin.

Look who's here? Pete Teo.

We all hung around there until about 2 a.m. While they have to work on the other day, I can sleep till late lol.

It sure was fun running around two events at the same day. Meeting foodies and party animals. Hope next time I don't have to do it again. It's kind of tiring.
