My Lunch: Robert Fried Kueh Tiow, Section 17, Petaling Jaya

First of My Lunch series. This is short food post of the food that I eat during lunch time while I am working. As I work in the IT services industry and have to do swing shift, so sometime my lunch will also meant my supper. Also because this is my daily normal makan session so I don't bring out my digital camera, so most of the pictures in this series will be taken from my LG GW525's 3.0 Megapixel phone camera. Quality of the pictures is of course lower than my usual food post.

Okay. It was a Sunday afternoon (yes, my shift starts on Sunday instead of Monday, so there's no Monday's blue for me on the bright side), and it's time for lunch. On Sunday, as usual I'll drive to Section 17, Petaling Jaya for food. Section 17 is like a little food heaven with variety of nice foods. That day, I suddenly have a craving for Char Kueh Tiow.

No worries because one of the best Char Kueh Tiow in Klang Valley is at Restoran Say Huat. Robert's Char Kueh Tiow has been operating for a very long time in Klang Valley. Fried with enough "wok hei" the flat rice noodle is fried till dry which is more towards Penang style unlike the KL wet version. Using mid size prawn, which is quite fresh too. The prawn is bigger than other CKT stalls that I've patronned before but still no match of the huge prawn used in Lorong Selamat's CKT. Well, Lorong Selamat one cost me RM 6 while Robert's cost me RM 4.50 for a big portion.

There are the usual kao choi, taugeh, and blood cockles. There's also Chinese sausage, which most CKT in KL don't use. The taste is just like Penang but still lack a bit of thing that I can't really make out of. Nevertheless it's one of the best CKT that I've tasted in Klang Valley. Be in mind that the portion here is quite big, so for small eater it's better to order a small portion (RM 4) and share :p. Big eater order a plate of big size (RM 4.50) will do.
