Maxis10 Nokia E7 Review: Look, Feel and Touch

For the first post of my Maxis10 Nokia E7 Review, I'll start with the Look, Feel and Touch of the smart phone. As my previous post I've already written some of the basic specs of Nokia E7.

I used my current LG GW525 that has a 2.8" full touch screen as a comparison of how big the 4" full touch screen is. The touch screen on Nokia E7 is way more sensitive than my current LG phone. I have to take a bit of effort to scroll and slide in my LG but it is a breeze on Nokia E7.

It has 8megapixel camera to take very nice picture with. I'll will write a review post later just on it's camera and video.

For those that don't like to read long words, I made a video about this post. I find that reviewing a smart phone is better with video plus words and pictures.

Apart from full touch screen, Nokia E7 is also a slide phone with a Full QWERTY keyboard. If you know how to write Chinese, it also has full screen handwriting recognition.

It has a 16GB internal memory, which I think is quite enough for me. I copied some of the HD videos that I have into it so that I can watch HD video on the go with it and still there's enough space for more apps. I think that is why there's no need for a MicroSD expansion slot.

To take out the battery I think it will be very difficult if you are not technical enough. I suspect that the battery is meant to stay in there for layman like me because the SIM card is slot into a holder at the upper side and then inserted into the phone. By the way, it support a normal SIM card and not a micro SIM card.

As for network connectivity, it supports GPRS/EDGE class B, HSDPA and WiFi. One think I like about Nokia E7 is that you can plug it into a HD TV with a HDMI cable for HD 720p video playback from the video that you've shot with the 16:9 HD 720p video camera.

Because of the size, Nokia E7 is little be heavier than the smaller size smart phone that I've tried holding before. My hand gets tire if holding it for too long with one hand. Not a problem is I held it with two. Also because my hands are not small, the big screen and full QWERTY keypad is just nice for my big fingers.

Maxis10 Nokia E7 Review: The List

I've been selected as one of the Maxis10 reviewer for recently launched Nokia E7. This is the 9th Maxis10 Reviewers Programme. I felt so lucky to be chosen as one of the reviewer. Bumped into Hanie and Jason, two bloggers that I know in Menara Maxis when I went there to collect the phone last Friday.

The first five that collected our Nokia E7 review units.

It's been a while now that I didn't use a Nokia phone. My first Nokia phone is a Nokia 3350, don't even have colour screen that time. My favourite game to play on it is of course, Snake II. Yes, on Nokia 3350 there's an update for Snake lol.

Basically Nokia E7 runs on Symbian OS, comes with a 4" 16:9 nHD (640 x 360 pixels) AMOLED screen, Full QWERTY keyboard and anodised aluminium casing comes in dark grey, silver white and blue. We all got the dark grey. I won't go into the technical details, you can find out more of it here.

I Watched Jay Chou The Era live in Malaysia 2011 Concert

Yesterday is the 1st show of the two concerts of Jay Chou 周杰伦 The Era (超时代) live in Malaysia 2011 Concert. I will say that it was the best concert staged by an Asian singer I've seen yet. This concert has the most guest performance artists, the most trap doors and the most creative and intriguing stage visual effect.

Roping in his friends Lara 梁心頤, Cindy 袁咏琳, 浪花兄弟 and Gary again to help guest appearing in his concert, Jay Chou litterally replica his Taipei concert to Malaysia with the whole package. Now I know why the ticket pricing is expensive.

Inside the stadium at about 7.45pm. My RM333 ticket sit quite far away. Should have bought the Rock Zone RM763 one :p

This is the scene when the stadium is 98% filled with excited fans. The other 2% came like an hour later half way through the concert.

Here's the opening teaser which is quite long.

Cindy 袁咏琳 performed one of her song and a duet with Jay Chou. Singing one of his popular song from the first album, 黑色幽默 (Dark Comedy). Lara 梁心頤 came out to perform twice. Once in 蛇舞 and another time is a duet with Jay Chou. Fans will know what song they sang together so I don't have to tell here lol. She sang one of her new single 我不再怕 (I Won't Be Afraid Anymore) composed by our talented local musician/singer 伍家辉.

浪花兄弟 sang one of their own song 你是我的OK绷 and also their own version of Jay Chou's 说好的幸福呢. I can't quite remember what song he perform together with Gary (ex 南拳妈妈). The stage visual effect is just too great to describe in words, you'll have to go there and see it for yourself or buy the original Jay Chou The Era Concert DVD from Sony Music.

There are so many stage props that I've lost count.

Unlike Vivien and Natalie who both have won VVIP tickets from KL SOGO, I sit very far and this is the best pic of Jay Chou I can get lol. Vivien will be going again to tonight's show on the Rock Zone ticket that she bought. Die hard fan!

While the fans bought the concert merchandise. I am happy enough with this free paper palm lol.

I was trying out the review phone Nokia E7 I got from Maxis10. So, I shot three videos in HD. I was cut off because the usher there asked me not to record :p

Overall I will give this concert 9/10. The 1 point missing for the full mark is because he didn't sing 不能说的秘密 and 安静 which are songs that I like very much. Can't blame Jay Chou though, he has got more than 100 songs, so it's hard to sing it all.

P.S. If you bought the Rock Zone ticket for tonight. Remember to go early and get a nice spot. You'll be in for a surprise ;)
