My Lunch: Ah Wang Bah Kut Teh, Jalan Klang Lama

I used to have a few makan kakis in the same shift and we will go out to hunt for nice food when we were working on graveyard shift. This is another one of My Lunch series but it will be supper for all of you that work a normal shift.

It's quite hard to find nice Chinese tai chow during wee hours in the morning. Most closed before midnight not to mention we went for lunch at about 1 am or 2 am. When I go to know about Ah Wang Bah Kut Teh in Old Klang Road, I suggested to try it out with my nocturnal colleagues.

Finding this place is not too hard, it is at a make shift zinc roof shop along Old Klang Road towards Mid Valley side. It's just next to a overhead road and you'll see a sign that tells you to turn right to Taman Desa and Taman Bukit Desa at about 400m.

Parking is quite easy because at that time you can park anywhere but I see most people park under the overhead road.

At around 1.30 am not many customer but as the time goes by, more and more customers came to have supper there. People don't sleep in KL?

Table No. hung above the table instead of placed on the table.

We ordered. Pepper Pork stomach soup. It's nice to have this soup in a cool early morning.

Vinegar Braised Pork Trotters is a must have. It's very appetizing. My colleague always order this when we come here.

Have some vegetable with oyster sauce and fried chopped garlic to balance up the meaty fare.

Even though this place is called Ah Wang Bah Kut Teh but bah kut teh is not the one and only popular dish. Most customers come here for their steamed fish head dish. Which I will say that it is much better than the bah kut teh. We had Minced Ginger Steamed "Wan Yue" Fish Head (姜茸鲩鱼头). Yummy. The fish head is steamed just at the right timing and not over or under cooked.

Just last week my colleague and I went for the bah kut teh here and of course we ordered the Vinegar Braised Pork Trotters too.

I did not like their BKT and vinegar trotters.
But the steamed fish head that comes with 3 choices of sauce was sooooo good. We went twice in one week!

Michelle: What about pepper soup?

James: Yeah, the BKT is not good but trotters are ok for me. Steamed fish head is the best there.
