Craft Brews Beer Tasting Session

Warning: Tidak Ditanggung Halal

Last Friday night is a night that fills with beer the whole night. The first half of beer session is at Craft Brews, Mutiara Damansara. We were invited for a beer & food tasting session.

Some of the ingredients used in beer brewing.

We were given some simple ingredients for simple beer brewing DIY at home. But brewing it is at our own risk because a license is needed to brew beer.

Craft Brews speciality is for their imported micro-brewed RedDot beer from Singapore. Currently they are offering 4 different brews;

Weizen (Wheat Beer) this is a light and easy to drink beer. There's a tad of sweetness in it and somewhat tasted like Chrysanthemum tea.

Monster Green Lager, a very special brew that uses spirulina as the natural colouring for the distinct green. First time I see beer in green lol. It's a bit more bitter than Weizen.

English Ale, the colour is in between red and brown. This is because roasted malt was used in the main ingredient. The most bitter of all four but yet very flavourful. Those that like to drink black coffee will like it.

Czech Pilsner, golden yellow in colour, the taste is like a normal draft beer.

Besides mirco-brewed beers, they also sell draught and premium beer such as Carlsberg and Hoegaarden. Their food is also worth a try. My recommendation is the eggplant chips, and Honey Mustard Pork Ribs. The pork ribs is very succulent and tender. It's a good dish to go with beer.

My plate of Honey Mustard Pork Ribs and Tex-Mex Pork Ribs.

Their homemade wedges beats KFC's all the way.

Cameralized Roast Pork 2 is spicy version of the Cameralized Roast Pork.

WackyBecky and Jessica enjoying their ribs.

Event like this will surely bumped into the #porkgang.

Suanie and Horng

KY, FA, and Kimberly.

Some of the foodies were there too. Babe KL, Meena, Rebecca, Unkaleong, Sidney and Teckiee.

Teckiee was here for the soft launch too last month.

And I finally get to meet Bald Eagle.

After we all filled our stomach with the yummy food there, Ben, one of the partner of Craft Brews came out to give us a crash course on beer tasting. It's a bit similar as wine tasting.

1.See the colour and the transparency of the beer. Lager beer is transparent while stout is murkier.

2. Swirl the beer and the smell it. Smell the flavour whether it's hoppy, sweet, bitter and etc.

3. Sip it while breathing in air. This will allow the taste to come out while mixing with air.

4. Swish & Savour. Now drink it without breathing in air, but don't swallow first. Move the beer around your mouth. Try to see if there's multiple layer of taste in the beer.

5. Swallow. Drink it and get the feel of it gushing down your throat.

Ben also told us that bitter beer like English Ale and Monster Green Lager goes well with sweet food and sweet beer like Weizen goes well with salty food.

We were given Monster Green Lager, a piece of bacon and a small piece of Brownies to do the beer tasting.

Monster Green Lager

Bacon.

We were then asked to play a game of beer guessing. We were blinded folded and have to taste 3 different glass of beer and pick which is the Monster Green Lager.

I got it right and got a free meal voucher for 2 main courses.

Another gang that was there is DGMBian. Joshua, Nigel, Kel Li, David, Hsu Jen, Ren, Yat, and Aaron.

It was nice having to drink micro-brewed beer and eating sinfully tasty pork ribs with so many bloggers. I drop by again to use my free meal voucher for 2 pax lol. After this, I went to Carlsberg FHM Girl Next Door Private Party to continue my beer drinking.
