Ngau Kee Beef Noodle, Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin

One fine Friday afternoon I called Tock Tock for lunch. He told me to wait for him in Nuffnang's office. When I reached there, I got a call from him telling me that he won't be able to make it there. So, I went up to Nuffnang and look for the Nuffies to have lunch.

Yee Hou just got back from an appointment so he didn't park his car. Robb, Pinky and I went down the building and meet up with him. He then drove us with his newly bought Honda City going through short cut and made our way to Jalan Alor (Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin). We're going to have beef noodle in Ngau Kee.

I always thought Ngau Kee only opens during the night, never thought I'll be eating lunch here. Anyway, it's been a long time I didn't come here so all is good for me.

Some aging cutlery, you can see the stain that can't be washout completely. This shows that Ngau Kee has been operating for a very long time. (Sinced 1972)

The chili sauce is a must when eating beef noodle here.

Ordered a glass of RM 1 Loh Hon Gor to crunch my thirst. The weather is more than 30 degree Celsius, ok?

Robb waiting patiently for his bowl of moolah.

This might not look much but it's damn tasty. Some people told me that is minced pork but from the colour and the taste it's definitely beef to me.

I asked for mixed and the uncle give me beef balls -_-. Never mind, I'll take the balls wtf. I don't how they make the beef balls so smooth. Personally I like my balls rough with some chunk of me like the pork balls found in pork noodle (not the square Sam Kan Chong type). RM 5.50 for the noodle and beef balls.

My side order of "sang guan ngau yoke" (sang yoke in short), boiled beef. Raw beef is put into piping hot soup and serve to you so that the beef is not overcook and just nice. This cost me RM 10. Really not cheap eating in KL.

It's not the best beef noodle in KL but still appetizing lunch. My favourite is still Lai Fung which is totally a different style of beef noodle. Maybe it is because Lai Fung's got pork lard lol.

Rating: 3.5/5

Address:

Along Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin. Just follow Jalan Bukit Bintang, turn right when you see Pavilion open space car park (not the Pavillion KL shopping mall, it's name after the Pavillion Cinema that is now buldozzed) into Jalan Tong Shin, turn right at the second junction into Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin and you'll find Ngau Kee on your left.

They do breakfasts too. Saw them on weekends, not sure about weekdays tho. Anyway, I've not been for years since always get sore throat after meals. MSG overkill?
