I Feel Like Dancing While Watching Mama Mia!

Thanks to Nuffnang, I get be one of the early batch of audience to watch Mama Mia! The Movie in GSC 1 Utama, simultaneously another session was on in Penang too. When I was young, I used to listen to aunt's ABBA's cassette. The catchy tune stayed in my head even after many years. Some of the most memorable songs are "Dancing Queen,", "Money, Money, Money", and of course "Mama Mia!".

This is a fun movie to watch with Meryl Streep take the lead as Donna. She put up a great performance and even though she's not a professional singer, her singing is not bad at all. Her combination with her two supporting actress Julie Walters as Rosie and Christine Baranski as Tanya created a great chemistry as they were a band call Donna & the Dynammos in their younger days in the movie.

Some of the audience sang along with the character in the movie and as for me, I don't quite know the lyrics just sat there enjoying the movie. Until Donna and her two bff start to jam the song Dancing Queen, I have a hard time controlling my urge to stand up and dance to the music. Of course my logical mind was able to prevented me from making a fool out of myself in front of about 200 plus audience in the cinema.

Donna's daughter Sophie is played by Amanda Seyfried. She's very cute by the way. Her singing is good too. I really like her singing "I Have A Dream" in the opening and ending which is so calming.

Min Li and Aronil takes time off from their busy acting job to catch the movie.

Overall all the other actors play their part very well except for some downside when ex-James Bond Mr. Pierce Brosnan open his mouth and sing solo. It nearly spoiled my mode to continue watching the movie. Inside me I have the urge to want to shout "Shut up already".

Zoe is another good daughter that brought her mum here.

In short, this is a very entertaining movie for the whole family and for people around my age or older (those growing up listening to ABBA) to have a nostalgic moment. If you go to the box office and can't decide which movie to choose, well this is the first choice you should choose.

Chili Pan Mee @ Super Kitchen Retaurant

Another lunch series with my colleague. In morning shift the only day that we drive out to look for food is the shift on Sunday because I can park our cars for free in the car park outside HP Tower. I think the car park belongs to HELP college :p

So, at lunch time we drove ourselves to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and get ourselves a fix on Chili Pan Mee. Kin Kin is always stuffy, slow service, bad attitude, and unhygienic. We prefer to go to Super Kitchen located in the opposite of Kin Kin.

Honestly for me, I can't really tell the different between the Chili Pan Mee in Super Kitchen and Kin Kin but some people still have the mind set that the founder is always better. The only slight different that I notice is that the dried chili in Super Kitchen has a bit of burnt taste while the one in Kin Kin don't have. The pan mee in Super Kitchen is slightly thicker and firmer than Kin Kin and Super Kitchen give a slightly bigger portion. From reading other blog post about Super Kitchen, I found that Super Kitchen is the preferred place to eat chili pan mee for most bloggers.

Apart from the environment, another advantage to eat in Super Kitchen is the variety choice of other food that you can choose if you're not in the mood for chili pan mee. My personal favourite will be the Drunken Chicken Mee Suah, even better if you eat it during cool weather. For those of you that doesn't like ginger or Chinese rice wine then this dish is not for you. The curry mee here also not bad. There's also Cantonese fried noodle, gu loh yoke rice, and etc.

Pork balls soup which is served together with the chili pan mee dry version. Yupe, there's soup version here. Unlike Kin Kin the pork balls soup is served only like you almost finish your pan mee.



A standard dry pan mee with the fried anchovies, minced pork and an egg that is boiled until the egg white cook but not the egg yolk.

Put in 3 big spoon of the special dried chili flakes and voila...

Mix it all up and we got a very addictive and delicious bowl of chili pan mee.

One bowl is not enough!

After the hot and spicy chili pan mee, it's always good to down it with a glass of cool Lime & Sour Plum juice.


Ah...Satisfaction.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., The Curve

Last Monday I was able to get hold of the long time MIA Babychyu that haven't updated her blog for almost two months now due to her move to work in Klang Valley. She just settled in her rented place and now busy with her work already. I asked her out for dinner and we chose to meet in the Curve.

Met up with Chyu and we haven't decided where to eat. Crossed Kim Gary out because we're kinda bored with it already. So, I took the decision to dine in Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., which I read about it in few food blogs but still haven't try it out yet.

At first we sat inside, after a while we felt that it is quite stuffy like there's no air-con or any wind blowing in. So, we shifted our place to the balcony. Much better.

You'll see this bucket on every table. Which consists of the roll of tissue paper, ketchup, malt vinegar, Tabasco sauce, and wet tissues. Some of the food here needs you to get your hand dirty, that's why the big roll of tissue.

This is our first time here, so the waiter explained to us the use of the road sign on the table.



This means to tell the staff to run away we don't need any service lol.

This means to that we need to be serve by a staff and ask them to come over.

Chyu never heard of Forrest Gump before when I tried to explain the concept of this restaurant is based on the company that Forrest Gump setup as a promised to his best friend Bubba in the movie. I don't blame her though, she might only be still in primary school when the movie

Cajun Shrimp

Started off with succulent shrimps stir-fried with olive oil and garlic and some other stuffs that I don't remember lol. This dish is nice. The shrimp is so succulent-ly fresh that it literally bounce in my mouth when I bite into it. The garlic bread that comes with is is also very rich with garlic butter. Now I know why some foodies like it that much.

Run Chicken Run

Basically it's diced chicken salad in balsamic vinegar with olive oil salad dressing and a bit of cheese. The portion is quite big. Tasted normal for me but Chyu say it taste weird. Maybe she's not used to this kind of salad dressing (Thousand Island kind of people). The apple gives the salad a fresh taste. In the end, I'm the only one finishing this up as Chyu only took a few bites. Need not to say that there's quite a bit of leftover.

Captain's Fish & Chip

The fish is fresh and the batter is not too thick. Taste great when eaten with the Malt Vinegar that sits in the bucket. The chips also not bad but we can't finish them because I have to finish the salad and Chyu is not a big eater. Next time I'll skip the salad. One question though, isn't it not very healthy to serve food on a piece of paper printed with words?
