Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup, Changi Road, Singapore

I'll be going to Singapore again to visit my sister there today. So before that, I'll write up on the Seng Kee Black Chicken Herbal Soup that my friend Amy brought me to. This place is one of it's kind and a rare find in Singapore. Firstly, it will be hard for one to find tables laid out on the street like this in an eatery in Singapore. The next is that this restaurant opens until 4 a.m. a good supper haunt.

Feels more like Jalan Alor than Changi Road in Singapore.

The must have food here is of course their famous Kidney Mee Sua (腰只面线). Coming here should be easy because it's just opposite Kembangan MRT station but Amy and her boyfriend brought me here around 1am, so we came here in his Subaru WRX Impreza :p

Besides ordering a bowl of kidney mee sua, customers here also can order zi-char dishes and also choose the fresh seafood and meat from the chiller. There are many kind of seafood to choose from like different kind fishes, prawns, squids, crabs and clams.

Amy chose this red fish to be steamed. I never seen fish like this before lol. From the colour, I know that is fish came from the sea while in Malaysia we eat more river fishes.

Some of the dishes that Amy and her boyfriend ordered for us.

Sliced abalone with vegetable.

Minced pork tofu

Stir-fried Clams in Sweet, Sour and Spicy Sauce

The red fish that Amy chose was steamed in Teochew style which has a sourish gravy because of the plum used. The fish meat is quite smooth and tender. Taste is not too bad for a sea fish.

Teochew Steamed fish.

Kidney Mee Sua (腰只面线) seems to be a common dish in Singapore that is rarely seen in Malaysia. So, of course I must ordered a bowl to try it and I like pork kidney too. Took a sip of the herbal soup, oh my it's really good. No wonder people came all the way here to eat this. The mee sua absorbed the herbal soup and very nice. The only disappointment is that the kidney is slightly overcooked.

Thank you Amy and her bf for bringing me here to try out the nice food here.

Overall the food here is very nice and there are a lot of choices of dishes that one can try out. If you like herbal soup and kidney, then this place is a must try for you if you are in Singapore.
