Sarawak Laksa @ Lucky Garden, Bangsar

Simon Says: Happy Birthday to Just Jasmine today.

Last Sunday I was on morning shift. Me and my colleagues drove to Lucky Garden in Bangsar for lunch. Reached there around 1 p.m. plus, which is lucky for me because the stall that sells Sarawak Laksa still open for business. Located in Kedai Makanan Nam Chuan in Lucky Garden, Bangsar. The Sarawak Laksa here is quite famous after being blogged, featured in newspaper and more recently on "一日五餐" (1 Day 5 Meals).

I've been wanted to try Aunt Christina's Sarawak Laksa for a long time but I always come here at the wrong time. This time I came at the right time.

Other than Sarawak Laksa, Aunt Christina also sells Hakka Glutinous Abacus for RM 3. The glutinous abacus is firm and doesn't stick to your teeth when you bite it. Eaten with the dried shrimp and fresh coriander leaves. The the taste is just right with the mix of salty dried shrimp with the mild tasted glutinous abacus. Got a very homemade feel to it.

Rating: 3.5/5

My bowl of Sarawak Laksa came in a larger than normal bowl that you find in a kopitiam or hawker center. The bowl is big but the portion is just half of the bowl. The condiments that comes with the laksa are two mid-sized prawn, friend egg slices, shredded chicken meat, taugeh and fresh corriander leaves. There's also a lime and sambal given, which I squeezed some lime juice into the sambal and then pour the sambal/lime concoction into my bowl of Sarawak Laksa. The laksa is quite light on the coconut milk and it's not too spicy either.

The condiments that comes with eat are also not heavily flavoured or oily, which you won't have a jelak feeling after finishing it. Putting in the sambal/lime concoction is a right thing to do as it gives it a bit more upmmh in the taste department. Portion is really not enough for me but as I also ordered the glutinous abacus, then it's just nice. Not too bad for RM 5.50 a bowl. Next time I might ask for bigger portion. I'm not an expert on Sarawak Laksa but this does have my vote for the top 10 curry laksa on my list.

Rating: 3.5/5

Condiments by definition are : something used to enhance the flavor of food; especially : a pungent seasoning.

In this post, lime and sambal are condiments. Other examples of condiments are salt, pepper, sugar.

Prawns and eggs would be ingredients not condiments.
