HTC ONE Launching

OMG! It's been so long I didn't update my blog. I've been too busy losing weight kekeke. Lose Weight Now, Ask Me How. Okay, a few weeks ago I went to the launching of HTC ONE in Studio Lounge, Tropicana City Mall. I asked Emily to come for the event too as she wanted to buy HTC ONE as her first smart phone. Yes, you heard that right.First smart phone. Better late than never, right?

I won't be writing down the specs here cause you can always Google it. Here's a video of the demo by the HTC Product Specialist.

Here is the video of the design and specifications.

I won a HTC ONE phone casing for Emily and she won a HTC One X Windows phone. OMG. So lucky. She's now using HTC ONE already.

For more information, visit HTC’s webpage www.htc.com or HTC Malaysia’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HTCMalaysia?fref=ts.

Oh Em Gee! Today is my birthday!

Woah. Time flies. I'm officially 33 already today. I don't remember what I did when I was 22 wtf. Yesterday night went to dinner to celebrate because one of my colleague has the same birthday as me but he's a year younger. Never in my live had I known someone that has the same birthday as mine. My youngest nephew nearly has the same birthday as mine because my sister then told me that the expected labour date was 17th August 2011 but she told me it's always a week earlier based on past performance. Yupe, she's right about that.

We went to Restoran Greenview in Section 19 Petaling Jaya to have dinner after work. I brought the Glenmorangie Astar that I got from Glenmorangie Malaysia to celebrate this with. This is a very good Scotch Whisky from Glenmorangie even my boss agreed on. Too bad, it's limited production so even if you have the money, you might not be able to find one.

Ordered their Four Season Dishes, which is very nice and fresh ingredients were used. But it's a bit too pricey. This cost us RM130. Gulp. Should have asked for the price before we order =P

Greenview is famous for it's Fresh Udang Galah noodle (生虾生面). We ordered one with four big fresh prawns. We gave it a two thumbs up. Saw on the wall there are pictures of Lin Dan and his wife Xie XingFang ate here before with the Chinese badminton team. This cost us RM170.

Need to have some vegetables to balance up the meal. The captain recommended stir-fried young lotus root, pine nuts, celery and mu er. Quite refreshing.

Continued with pork ribs and half of a roasted duck. The pork ribs is nice but the roasted duck is meh.

Sorry for the blur picture. I must have too much Astar already when I took this picture. Honey glazed squid. Crunchy and the sweet taste is just right. Very good dish to go with whisky or beer.

Had very good time chatting with colleagues after work and not talk about work. Oh, do you know that Hyuna also wished me Happy Birthday. You don't believe? Watch the video below.

I swore to you that I heard her sang, "Oopa Simon Seow". Okaylah. Shiok sendiri.

How young was I then in this old picture? Can't remember lol. By the way, this is my last year birthday post, 2010, 2009, and 2008.

Happy Birthday! To me!

UFO 飞碟 Desserts and Drinks, SS2, Petaling Jaya

Taiwanese desserts, bubble teas and snacks seems to be making a come back recently to Malaysia especially with so many franchise mushrooming out of no where. Two weeks back I tagged along Henry for a food review at UFO 飞碟 Desserts and Drinks, SS2, Petaling Jaya after we had tasted some Gelato on stick. This review is organized by Jane and coordinated by Benjamin. Thank you guys!

Here at UFO, one can try out all three Taiwanese specialties. Soya Ice, fried snacks and bubble tea! One place to have them all. I started with soya ice series and Benjamin ordered some snacks for us all.

As the norm of Taiwanese concept store nowadays you can customize your dessert. Mix and match the sides, choose your level of sweetness and ice. I didn't notice that so my bowl of soya ice series is a bit too sweet for me.

While the ice series here is just okay only, the fried snacks are the hidden gem here. Fried till the right timing with the outside still crispy and tender soft inside. The batter is nicely seasoned too. Once you start, it's hard to stop.

Lots of choice to choose from.

Ended my feast with a cup of Sour Plum Tea. I still prefer Roasted Milk Tea.

If you want to try all three different Taiwanese sensation in one go, then UFO is your choice.

By the way, their ordering notifier is imported from Korea.

Mai Ramen 1st Birthday!

I was invited to Mai Ramen 1st year birthday buffet session two weeks ago. I was invited because the owner wanted to show a token of appreciation of the food post that I wrote when I first ate at Mai Ramen last year. They are so generous that I can invite 3 guests to come dine with me.

So, I invited Emily, and brought two of my cousin sisters Joyce and Jas along with me. The night customer will pay a fee for the birthday buffet, and since it is a birthday celebration, Mai Ramen decided to throw in a deal for the paying customers. The customer that can finished a bowl of ramen within 2 and a half minutes will have his/her fee waived. Quite a few customers managed to win the challenge.

There is a buffet spread on the table. I can have as many as I want. You see that the buffet spread is kind of few in variety right?

House salad

Chicken karaage, tamago sushi and tofu skin sushi

Favourite Japanese snack of most people, Takoyaki balls

Of course the gyoza in Mai Ramen is a must have

Don't worry, there's another part of the buffet that you can order the ala carte dishes. Those dishes is not nice to eat if put on the buffet spread for too long.

I love the salmon sushi roll.

The owner is so generous that we get a plate of salmon sashimi that is not in the buffet menu.

Soft shell crab temaki is yummy.

Crispy prawn tempura. That's why have to be made to order.

Of course, coming to Mai Ramen without eating their Tonkotsu Ramen is like haven't been to Mai Ramen before. I see that the quality is still maintained. Best of all, I get to put in the toppings myself from the buffet spread.

Chashu, pork belly and Ajitsuke tamago (seasoned half-boiled eggs) are a must in my ramen.

We were so full after so many food. As we thought that we will end it after finishing the last of the food, the staff then brought out a peanut snow mountain to us as dessert. Oh well, there's always room for dessert.

We were all so happy that night. Thank you Mai Ramen. Happy Birthay and hope there will be many more birthday to come ;)

I was holding the almond biscuit Emily got for me in Macau

Taman Selera Jalan Othman, PJ Old Town

Do you know that Oldtown Bhd was listed on Main Market in Bursa Malaysia? Yes, old kopitiam selling white coffee in Ipoh is now a listed company. Talk about growth. Now we all can be a shareholder of this coffee chains phenomena.

Okay back to my post hahaha. I went to have dinner in Taman Selera Jalan Othman, PJ Old Town during Chinese New Year way back in Febuary with my sister and bro-in-law. Of course with my two adorable niece and nephew too. This is the Nth time that we've been here because our maternal hometown is in PJ Old Town. So, we've been eating here since we were kids.

It's been a while now that we didn't come to this food sanctuary because we don't come to PJ Old Town as often as we used to. In the past, we come back almost every week with our parents.

There are so many stalls here selling different kind of hawker fare. One of the most blogged about one is of course the Chinese satay stall that sells pork satay. One have to way a long time for the uncle and auntie to dish out the satays.

No worry there, we ordered a lot of other dishes from neighbouring stalls. The Penang rojak is very good. But if you can't take spicy one, remember to ask the boss not to put in chilis because it's quite hot.

I see many customers eating Oh Jien (oyster fried) too. So, we also ordered a plate. True enough, the oyster is quite big in size and juicy. Yummy.

My sister ordered WatDanHor (fried rice noodle with egg gravy) for her kids. Not too bad too.

After like 30 minutes of wait, alas came the pork and chicken satays. The auntie told me, pork is darker colour than the chicken but I still can't quite differentiate which is which until I bite into them lol.

Now I know why so many people rave about the satay here. First, it's not overly grilled like some that the meat is burnt. Second, the satay sauce here is very creamy and have a strong peanut base. It's not so spicy, so even children can take it.

I also ordered TomYam from a Thai stall there. It's so-so only.

Another popular stall there is the ice kacang (ABC, Air Batu Campur). Too bad when we wanted to order they have already sold out (it's about 9pm ++). So next time have to go a bit early to savour that ice kacang.

After dinner we went to my mom's old home to visit our cousins and aunts there. This picture of my niece and nephew on the old swing reminds me of my sister and I when we were their age. I think we took a picture on the same swing before. Too bad I don't know where is the old pictures now.

Great Party at 7ASTE Monte Carlo

Updates! I forgot to put Emeryn's pic in. So here it is.

I got VIP invitation to the 7ASTE Monte Carlo party last Friday at Ecoba, Damansara Perdana. I get to invite 10 of my friends to join in the fun, not only that I got a table reserved under my name and the best of all is that I will have 3 bottles of sparkling wine waiting for me. Well the non-VIP also not too bad because there's free flow of Carlsberg all night long while stock last.

I arrived quite early to avoid unnecessary long queue. You won't believe the crowd at a 7aste event. It's crazy. I bumped into Jack and Rachel at the entrance. They were Tian Chad's guest.

Jack waiting the 7aste girl to check he's registration.

After registration, I went to get my VIP pass and chips and table number from the VIP counter behind. The 3 chips are used to exchange for the 3 bottles of sparkling wine from the bar.

As the theme of the party is Monte Carlo, there are two casino style games that the guest can try to play and win some awesome prize. Of course, there's no money involves as this is not a gambling place, it's just some fun and games. Guest don't have to place any bet to play the games. Just a push of a button and answering a question fast enough will do.

Taufulou, Serge, Jack and Rachel trying their luck on the Fortuna Wheel.

One of the prize that can be won is a 2GB thumb drive. The other great prizes are iPod Shuffle and iPad.

I popped open a bottle of wine and be merry with the people I met there.

Met cute Stitch that turned into a pretty young lady.

My invited guest, Yih Yann. She's a headhunter (not the Sarawak kind).

It's been awhile that I bumped into Copykate. Still is pretty and slim as ever.

Victoria is in da house.

Jack and Rachel. If you want UNIFI for your office, email me and I'll give you Jack's number. He works in TM.

The popular Taufulou.

Dustyhawk, Jessica and Mike Yip.

Ecoba is packed with guest to 7ASTE party.

Zlwin is one of the artiste performing that night. Guess what's he's performed?

Ah! How he bend the fork???

It's not only about food and wine at 7ASTE. We has got dance performance.

Violin performance. One of the highlight of the night or I meant "the" highlight of the night. Bravo!

Tian Chad came quite late so I'll have to entertain his guests for him first :p

If Tian Chad is there. One will almost certain will see these two sisters. Yi Wern and Nicole.

Came out from a mold.

Michelle "The Leng Lui" Lee was there too of course. Also bumped into her at the last 7ASTE event.

This is Erica. I just met her for the first time there.

Elvin told me that Erica is a model. He has shot her picture before.

Jia Yeen and Jackie Loi. Sorry Jia Yeen blocked most of Jackie's face here :p

Then there's Henries on the loose. BabeBaboon and CleverMunkey.

Shannon Chow

Eric Yong, he can go far far away just for good food.

Bumped into Samantha K and Samantha W at the entrance.

Chloe Misuko was there too. Thanks Ah Bok for helping to fetch her home. My place is too far and I was drunk :p

This is Hanie. I see her in so many events.

Esther N, a very busy blogger that has a lot of events, parties and food reviews to go to.

I had so much fun and drinks that night. Thanks to 7aste for another successful party. Hope there will be more of this to come. Oh, if you want to know the updates from 7aste, you can follow their Twitter account here, like their Facebook Page or if you haven't register as a member yet, go do it now so that you can RSVP for the next 7aste event and go there for free.

I left around 12.30 am and I still people there trying their luck to win the iPad.
