#ChurpOut at Mek-T, Bandar Puchong Jaya

Only after a month since the 1st ChurpOut at Mark's Place, Churp Churp had their 2nd #ChurpOut last Friday. This time is buka puasa at Mek-T (masa riang, masa hebat :P). Mek-T is a restaurant that served up authentic Terengganu food using a fast food system. You order the food and pay at the counter, food is serve and you take the food. Although the system is fast food but the cooking is slow cook and is cooked based on estimation of orders. Small batches of each dish were cooked and only when the dish is low that a new batch is cook to maintain the freshness.

By the way, the food here is certified Halal. Hence we all buka puasa here.

We start off with laksam and pulut lepa (steamed glutinous rice with fish filling). It's something like a thick chee cheong fun rolls top with minced fish belacan gravy. At first I thought with belacan the gravy will be very salty but the taste turn out just nice. One of my favourite dish of the night. As for the pulut lepa, I think they are too generous with the glutinous rice, if the rice is lesser a bit then the ratio with the fish filling will be just nice. Also, some of my Malay friends there prefer it to be grilled instead. Ah, too bad grilling is a no no because there's not place for the smoke to go.

Laksam

Michele the ChurpHeadTM introduced her fellow Churpies before we dig in to our laksam.

We had keropok lekor for snacks served with hot special chili dip (it's sweet and spicy). Tasted rich with fish and less flour. Those that I find in KL pasar malam has more flour than fish inside. The Malay couple (their hometown is Terengganu) sitting next to me said that the keropok lekor here is almost 90% as what they had in Terengganu.

Keropok Lekor

Nasi Sedapp Sokmo with Gulai Ayam is not my favourite of the night. The rice is not too bad but the chicken has a kind of earthy taste like there's some herbal medicine. What I can say is that it is an acquired taste :p

Nasi Sedapp Sokmo with Gulai Ayam

Nasi Ulam is next, I think Kelantanese will call this Nasi Kerabu instead. I've been wanting to try this after I read it on Sixthseal. Nicely cooked rice mixed with the fried coconut meat. The only disappointment is that the ulam (mixed raw vegetables) is too little.

Nasi Ulam.

I never imagine Nasi Dagang looks like this. I always thought it will be colourful as Nasi Ulam. As plain looking as it is, actually nasi dagang is cooked with 90% rice and 10% glutinous rice. That's why, there's a bit of stickiness to the rice. If there are mangoes at the side, I would have thought that I am eating a Thai dessert. As always, Nasi Dagang is paired with a fish curry and in Mek-T a kind of local tuna fish is used. Nice and simple.

Nasi Dagang.

When all the heavy stuffs were done. Cindy served each of us a cup of Rojak Betik (papaya salad). Betik muda (pickled young papaya) is used. Mixed with rojak sauce and a bit of keropok ikan (fish chips). It's quite sourish and the vinegar acidity might be a bit strong, might not be suitable if you have gastric problem. It helps to lessen my feeling of fullness after the heavy meal though.

Rojak Betik.

Mek Pau Goreng (pan-fried bun) comes with two choices of filling. Shaved coconut meat filling and red beans filling. The red beans used is much bigger size than the red bean I see normally. No, it's not Azuki bean. The other one is a deep fried bun with fish filling that I forgot the name :p

Top: Deep fried bun. Bottom: Mek Pau Goreng.

Ended the night with a bit of kuih and brought home Lompat Tikam for supper :)

Mek-T is owned by Cindy's parents and the recipe is contributed by her mom whom is from Terengganu. The Terengganu delicacies here is as authentic as it can be, even those hometown is Terengganu that night gives their thumbs up. So, if you craving for authentic Terengganu food, Mek-T is the place to go.

P.S. Three Churpie Plushies were given away as contest prizes that night. That's why it's ways good to join a #ChurpOut.

Tweeples It's Time You Join Churp Churp!

I think I joined Churp Churp back in March 2010. That is when not many people know about Churp Churp. You don't know what is Churp Churp? Well, it is the sister company of Nuffnang. While Nuffnang is a platform for bloggers to earn some side income from blog ads and gather to mingle with other bloggers from events, parties or movie screenings, Churp Churp is almost the same thing for people that might not have a blog but do Tweet a lot or update their Facebook status very frequently.

Since I have a blog and I tweet and update my Facebook quite often, I am proud to say that I joined both Nuffnang and Churp Churp. Click here for more FAQ on Churp Churp, I'm not going to explain it in this post lol.

Why did I join Churp Churp?

Churp Churp Earned Me Side Income:

Since I met the minimum requirement of followers on my Twitter account so I wish to put it to good use so that I can earn a bit of side income from something that I already doing so often, which is tweeting. Those of you that didn't know, Churp Churp started with Twitter platform first before they added Facebook as another of their social media ads platform.

It's another nice way of earning a bit of extra pocket money for you students out there. Why waste it when you can earn by Tweeting. It might not be much but slowly you'll be able to chalk up a nice amount of earnings from Churp Churp ads campaign.

This is what I currently earned from Churp Churp since March. Yes, I know it's not much but hey at least I can have a few decent meals with the moolah.

Churp Churp Share the Good News:

Every since I received ads from Churp Churp for me to tweet. I found that I know about promotion, discount, new product and etc way before it was announce in the news or Internet. The nice thing about it is that I am able to share it first hand to my friends and followers. Like that #FreeBeer campaign that I've done for Tiger Beer because of that so many people are able to know about it and get free beer. Isn't it nice sharing good news about free booze?

It's nice to know that some of them found out about #freebeer because of Churp Churp.

There's actually a lot of great bargains announced through Twitter from Churp Churp. See the recent Air Asia tweets about free seats, great prices, high discount and what not. I know a few of them were able to buy zero fare air tickets just by clicking on the link in the tweet.

Churp Churp is not only about $$$:

Sometime I think to myself, I join the Nuffnang or Churp Churp is it really for the money alone? Well, some will tell me that I can earn a lot more by jumping ship to another blog ads company. I will always think back about the event and people that I met in parties and movie screening, and stick with the same blog ads company. Churp Churp is not that different too. Although, there might not be big events for now from Churp Churp, they do organized fun and great outings for the Churpers.

Just recently, some of us Churpers went to fly some kite in Taylor's University, Lakeside Campus. It is a very fun and fulfilling outings. Yes, it's not a big event or anything grand but it's something simple yet a lot of fun to do that I've never tried before. As, Timothy said,"It's more fun than playing Starcraft 2".

Churpers having fun flying kites.

It is time for you that haven't join Churp Churp to take action now so that you can also enjoy the benefits that I got from Churp Churp. Also follow me on my Twitter for get more updates on the bargains. LOL.

Churp Churp, We Go Fly Kite

After the Nuffnang Glitterati Plus Open Meeting, we all break for lunch. Food is not hard to fine at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus because there's three rows of shop lots cater to that. There's Starbucks, Wong Kok, Face to Face, and Subway. I can seee Oldtown under renovation. I would have thought this is a shopping center if not for the lecture theater.

At about 2.30pm we then joined other Churpers for the Churp Churp Fly Kite activity.

Wheee!! Jessica having fun.

Serge trying out my Batty Kite.

Some of the Churpers did very well in flying the kite.

I was able to fly my Batty up high too for 3 or 4 times. Each did not last longer than 5 minutes. The wind is not good in Taylor's Lakeside.

Yeah my Batty flying high.

Guess who is flying it?

It's Boss Stewie. He had so much fun playing with the kites.

The wind improved and there's four or more kites that made it up.

My face was red because of the sun. Lucky I applied sunblock if not I would have get sunburn.

Nicole and Yi Wern said that I looked like I was drunk with my face so red and hair untidy. WTFLOL.

All Churpers that came are also bloggers, hence each have a camera in hand or on lap :p Congrats on the new domain Jackie ;)

The Chua sisters forced Joshua Law (birthday boy on that day) to make a video on kite flying.

I had lot of fun that day. I was like a kid again running here and there like sorhai LOL to fly my Batty. So, Churp Churp not only let you earn some side income utilizing Twitter and Facebook but also organized fun activity such as this. It's worthwhile that the next day I had muscle pain on my back and shoulder. The lack of exercise is so obvious.

Glitterati Plus Open Meeting

Last Saturday I went to one of the nicest private college/university campus I have yet to see in Malaysia, Taylor's University, Lakeside Campus. It's such a beautiful place with state of the art facilities. Two reasons of why I wake up early morning at 9am to travel to Subang Jaya (Sunway to be exact) from my place in Segambut on a lovely weekend. First, there is the Nuffnang Glitterati Plus Open Meeting and second is the Churp Churp's Fly Kite.

Quite a turn out.

First, let me start with the GPlusMY Open Meeting. What is Glitterati Plus? It's a club for open for any active Nuffnang Glitterati member. It's club for bloggers from bloggers and event from bloggers, for bloggers. There are council members namely the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Event Planner, of which were chosen by Nuffnang Glitterati Plus members. I was one of the 22 Nuffnanger that was chosen to be the pilot member of Nuffnang Glitterati Plus, kind of a test subject for the newly form club. We had chosen the council members amont the 22 of us. Not to worry, opportunity is open for all that joined GPlusMY because council member will be re-elected every 6 months so that everyone will get the opportunity to lead the club.

Boss Stewie was there to tell everyone how Nuffnang was started.

Sha, the current GPlusMY president briefs the audience about Nuffnang Glitterati Plus.

What the council members do is to get feedback from other members about what activities that we can do together as bloggers. Nuffnang staff is there to help out in term of finding sponsorship and also Nuffnang might also fund some of the projects that GPlusMY is planning to do.

There's a few things that needed to be explain clearly.

1. Nuffnang Glitterati Plus is different from your Nuffnang Glitterati status. It doesn't mean if you join Plus you'll earn more from blog ads from Nuffnang.

2.

Who are eligible to join?

Any Glitterati Nuffnanger that met 2 or more of the criteria below:

i) At least update of blog with 5 posts per month.

ii) Had join 30% or more of the events organized by Nuffnang.

iii) Had join 50% or more of the contests run by Nuffnang.

3. What is the benefit?

Press Screening (this is a movie screening for the media like NST, The Star, radio stations). Normally happens 1 week before the movie release. Screening on weekday and in the morning, so it's not for non-active blogger or blogger that has to work on weekday. I was lucky enough to snatch up the press screening opportunity for Resident Evil: After Life 3D as it was open to GPlusMY Member. Of course with limited seats.

Concert or event. Sometime some customer have limited invitation or tickets to be given out to just maybe 10 bloggers. Nuffnang can't be opening out only 10 invites as a contest. So this is where GPlusMY member comes in. Of course it will be a first come first serve basis, and terms and conditions are applied. Like me, I have to do a blog post about Paramore Live in KL in order to get a pair of Rock Zone tickets worth RM 358 each for the Paramore concert.

Other activities that GPlusMY had are like Buka Puasa at Ayam Penyet at The Curve, Fun Ride at Cosmo World at Berjaya Times Square, and Volkswagen Drive to name a few. If you want to know more about GPlusMY, you can like the GPlusMY FB page or follow GPlusMY Twitter. The information I've written is just briefly of what I gauge from the open meeting. Any questions about GPlusMY and be ask in the GPlusMY FB page or Twitter and answer will be given as soon as possible.

Don't worry if you are not able to make it to the open meeting. Membership is open to any Glitterati member that meet the criteria. Currently one will have to filled up the application form. An online application is coming soon.

The response from the Nuffnangers were great. The application form were snatched up by almost all the Nuffnangers in matter of minutes.

Hooi Nee, Chloe, Joshua Law, and Henry were among those that has applied to join GPlusMY. By the way, it's Joshua's birthday on that day. Happy Birthday!

Nicole helping out with the refreshment. Thank you Astreyu for such a nice curry puff, muffin and custard puff. Bought in a bakery below Kerinchi LRT station.

While they were busy filling up forms and answering questions. I went to take pictures.

Me: Why you always wear pink one?

Audrey: Why you always, always..... (haha, she can't think of a word to fight back)

No worries Audrey, I know you love pink and you look good in pink. ;)

Camwhored with Jestina and Yuen Yee.

After that we break for lunch and at 1pm we were taken for a tour around Taylor's Lakeside Campus. If I want to further my study locally, I think I will choose Taylor's University, Lakeside Campus. It's so nice. The lecture theater has great view of the lake.

Glitterati Nuffnanger are you ready for Nuffnang Glitterati Plus?
