A Rude Awakening

It was around 12pm on a Saturday and I was half asleep and half awake. My company phone rang. I work in IT support so if my company phone rang then it means that some urgent IT issue that needed me to check. So of course I became fully awake and answered the call. I see the caller ID, the number is 03-78850692. Which is not the support number from my company. So, I half suspected that it is a wrong number call. Here's the conversation.


Woman Caller: May I speak to Ting Seok Ping?

Me: Sorry, you've got the wrong number. (I've received many wrong numbers call on this phone before so it's kind like a norm for me.)

Woman Caller: Are you sure it's the wrong number? May I know your name, sir?

Me: Why do I need to give you my name?

Woman Caller: I'm calling from Maharaj & Partners and you are using my customer's number. Of course I need to know your name. (What?!! Do I care if this is your customer's number?)

Me: This is my company's number.

Woman Caller: How long have you been using this number?

Me: I...(before I could answer she cut in)

Woman Caller: What's your phone number? Is it 012-xxxxxxx?

Me: (I need to recall the phone number because I don't remember. I've only been using this number not long ago. It was passed down from the my predecessor)

Woman Caller: It's okay. I'm not going to waste anymore time on this. (And she hung up.)


I was like WTF. Not even an apology? Who's the in the wrong? You called my number, I answered politely that it's a wrong number, there's no such person. Usually I'll get a "Oh, so sorry." and ended the call. This one, ask personal question and got rude when I don't tell her my name. Lastly, she said I was wasting her time? WTF?! Who is wasting who's time? You woke me up from my sweet slumber on a weekend just to be asked some stupid question rudely and I was wasting your fucking time? Now this is what I called "a rude awakening" literally.

Utter Dissapointments in Sepang Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort & Spa During Company Team Building

This is the final straw. My department did a cross-department team building trip and we the committe chose to held it in Sepang Golden Palm Tree at Sepang Gold Coast. It was all nice, the facilities are good and room is very nice. I especially like their very comfortable bed. The tea break pastries were excellent.

Things started to go downhill when evening come.

1. Luggages were sent to our rooms quite late. We reached here at around 2pm but our rooms were not ready yet. So, we decided to start our team building session because we've hired two coaches to facilitate our team building activites. The hotel promised to send our luggages to our room but after our team building session, which is about 6 pm, we found that our luggages were not in our room as promised.

2. The buffet dinner is meh. Not only that the food tasted mediorce, the seafood is not very fresh at all. Services is quite poor too. Plates were not clear, the waiters will not attend to you and only after a few calls only then they will attend to you. The choice of dishes is repeated night over night for the cold dishes and salad.

3. In the evening, we were told to turn down our speaker volume because there's some Kementarian heads doing budget in the ballroom next door. Come on, if they want to do budget do in their meeting room, why book a resort's ballroom? Who's paying for that? Not our money? We didn't entertain their request of course but the next day, we found that our speaker volume was tune down to utterly low volume.

4. Some of my colleagues' rooms have no water supply. This drag on for whole day only someone was sent to look into it, and it turned out that the water supply switch was turn off. WTF.

5. Tonight, I thought the BBQ dinner that we've paid extra for will be the saving grace. At first, we were promised BBQ dinner near the beach. Then we were told that the beach was booked for private function and moved us back to the buffet restaurant. So, when we got there, we found out that we will be eating the same kind of buffet that we had yesterday that cost way less than what we'd paid for. Call to complain didn't help. It's too late for them to serve us BBQ because we still have team building session to attend.

In short, Sepang Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort & Spa, Sepang Goldcoast has over promised and under delivered. I don't think we will ever come here again for any or our teambuilding trip. Also, the beach here is not very suitable to conduct seaside activities.

Super Bad Experience Watching Movie at GSC 1 Utama

I'm not sure about you but from my past experience, I always had some of my movie going experience spoiled by bad projection or bad sound. So often than not it happens in GSC 1 Utama. Okay, having technical glitch is one thing but having the projection going way out and the audiences themselves have to notify the staff there to tell them there's a problem with the picture after waiting for 10 or 15 minutes means one thing. The projectionist must be doing something else rather than making sure that the movie is projected correctly or the sound is okay after he push the start button.

Take just now for example. I went to watch Viral Factor in GSC 1 Utama on 21st Jan 2012, 9pm at hall 11. I was quite excited to watch this movie that was shot mostly in Malaysia. When the film starts, the ratio of the picture doesn't match the screen at all. It's like it's using 4:3 rather than the 16:9 ratio. Then there's the sound having some distortion that is very irritating and the volume from dialogue and sound effect in the movie was damn low. We, the audiences had to endured this bad quality projection for about 15 minutes, until some of the audiences couldn't take it anymore and walked out to complain. Then only a few minutes later the picture ratio was corrected and a few more minutes later the sound was corrected.

What I don't understand was, why we the audience need to wait 10 to 15 minutes and go make a complain only then the technical glitch is taken care of? What is the projectionist doing? I hope he/she is not sleeping on the job.

Viral Factor is quite nice by the way but please watch it somewhere else if you don't want a bad experience like me. I also bought ticket for I Love Hong Kong 2012 for 12.30 am show at hall 6. Ratio and sound was okay but there's a big vertical line covering the top of the picture. I didn't wait for 10 minutes this time, after 1 or 2 minutes into the movie, I walked out and complained to the staff. They then tried to fixed it. They stopped the movie, do something, then played again but the vertical black line was still there. The frustrating thing is that the movie is continued to be played, so we all missed out portions of the story not to mention watching the movie with the black vertical line. After 15 minutes and it's still not fixed yet. I couldn't take it anymore. I walked out straight to the box office and asked for a refund. The box office staff asked why. I told him technical glitch and I missed like 10 minutes of the story. He gave me the RM12 I paid and I left 1 Utama.

This is what I get when I pay good money to support original film? Luckily I don't watch movie at GSC 1 Utama that often. TGV Kepong is still the best lol. Please, GSC Cinemas ask your projectionists not to sleep on the job. Thank you very much.

After Bersih 2.0, What Now?

So, last Saturday the Bersih 2.0 rally ended with all parties claiming that they have won, according to the Star Says. For those of you that if up until now not sure what is happening, then should take notice now. Bersih is not affiliated with any political party as what the mainstream media wants you to believe. It is a movement to call for electoral reform to take not into these 8 demands for a clean and fair election process:

Bersih (Coalition for clean and Fair Elections)

They have demanded 8 points
1) that the EC clean up the electoral roll
2) reform postal voting
3) use indelible ink,
4) introduce a minimum 21-day campaign period,
5) allow all parties free and fair access to the media,
6) strengthen public institutions,
7) stop corruption,
8) put an end to dirty politics.

So, what can common people like us do? Well, for one thing is very easy to do. If you have reach the age of 21 year old, then it is time to register yourself as a voter to excise you rights as a citizen of Malaysia. I myself registered as a voter when I turned 21 but too bad at that time I missed GE10 by a few months. On GE11 I went to vote, I voted for BN during GE11 because I believe that they can do a good job for my area, Segambut.

During the period, not only there's no improvement but crime rates increase in the area and the roads were left in diminishing condition for a few years and no one come and fix the roads. So, on GE12 I gave my vote to DAP (Pakatan Rakyat). So far I like the MP of Segambut YB Lim Lip Eng that I've voted for, crime rates fell and roads were fixed once he came to my taman and saw the conditions. This is how I excise my rights to choose a leader that can help my area even if I can't decide which will form the Federal Government.

If you don't like what you see now in your constituent, then you should excise you rights to vote in the next General Election if you are eligible. You can choose to vote for any political party or person that you think can help contribute in your constituent. It's your choice.

I Has Got Course To Attend

Ah, already a few days I haven't update right? Yes, that's because I am currently attending a 3 days training course for an IT certification. Tomorrow is the last day and also the exam will be taken after the final chapter. So, I have to study study study and not time to write a new post.

Also today when driving home from Cyberjaya one of my tyre burst!! Lucky I managed to changed the tyre but alas my spare tyre has no air. Luckily the MEX Ronda came to my rescue. They have a mobile electronic air pump. Damn cool. Drove to workshop near home and was told that my rim is crooked, RM70 to fix it and a new tyre will cost me RM195. Total RM265 gone. FML.

Well, I still have to continue to study my course material. Wish me luck. Will be back to post updates after I rest after the exam.

P.S. Remember to pump air into your spare tyre because one day you might need to use it and found out that there's no air in the spare.

At the End of Daybreak (心魔)

I went to watch At the End of Daybreak (心魔) last Friday in GSC 1 Utama. Before I go into the movie let me rant a bit here first. What I want to rant about is that the experience of watching this movie in GSC 1 Utama is the worst that I've ever experienced.

Firstly, the showtime stated to start on 7pm but it only started to show advertisement on 7.30 pm, and that's when one of the audience went out and complain. So, the movie only starts on 7.45 pm. This is where the problem starts, the next showtime is 9pm and the movie started 45 minutes late. So, the audience for 9pm show have to wait outside because the movie on 7pm haven't finish yet.

At about 8.15 pm the staffs were already talking in walkies-talkie inside the cinema. Hello, we the customer paid RM 10 to enjoy the movie not listening to you talk in the walkies-talkie. Then the worst came, near the end of the movie, the projection of the movie were abruptly cut. We offer course demand that we show the complete ending. All this while, the 9pm customers were all waiting outside the cineplex already. So, they rewind the film and back to 5 mins before the ending. After that I found out the moment where they cut it was just before the ending credits. So, very stupid for the staff to cut the projection abruptly, they could have let us go earlier if they don't cut it.

Okay, back to the movie. At the End of Daybreak (心魔) was directed by Ho Yuhang 何宇恒 , if you follow 15Malaysia short films, you'll know that he is also the director of Potong Saga.

This film also won quite a few International film festival award from the actresses. Especially Kara Hui (惠英红) who had won a few awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie.She won Best Supporting Actress in 46th Golden Horse Awards, Best Actress in the 16th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards, Best Supporting Actress in the 4th Asian Film Awards and nominated for Best Actress in the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards (which will be presenting this month) (update Kara Hui (惠英红) won Best Actress for Hong Kong Film Awards too). New comer Jane Ng Meng Hui 黄明慧 (she's also One FM DJ in the Morning Kaki show where she host the show with DJ Jeff) won the Best Newcomer in in the 4th Asian Film Awards.

This movie is about a mother (Kara Hui), a son (Chui Tien You) and a girl (Jane Ng). It all started out fairly bright, the son is going out with the girl. The girl is bullied in her high school. The girl's dad happens to be a teacher in the school. The mother of the son was divorced with the son's father because the father chose to leave with the mother's younger sister lol. Might sounds complicated here but YuHang made it fairly simple.

All are well, until the girl's parents found out about relationship of the son and the girl. They want to make police report and charge him with satutory rape. The girl is only 16 year old after all (by the way Jane Ng is already 27 year old :p). All the situation turns dark from here on. I won't want to give a spoiler here. So, you go watch and find out how it ends.

The acting of Kara Hui is proven to be a very seasoned actress. But I have to give credit to Chui Tien You because his acting is very good too. I wonder why he didn't get nominated. It's a nice and simple movie to watch without too much of special effect. It's only showing in 3 GSC Cinema from 1st of April until 7th of April in the International Screen. Yes for 1 week only. Go watch it now before it's too late.

The song name is 喜帖街 (Wedding Card Street), it is a old street in Hong Kong that used to have a lot of shops providing wedding related products and services but now the street is empty, which is kinda sad.

By the way, Happy New Year 2009. Where you guys counting down tonight? I'll probably be counting down with myself in 1 Utama. T_T

Hancock and my Neighbour

This is Hancock.

He was our pet puppy for about two weeks before he was kidnapped by my neighbour and put him in their kopitiam as a stray-pet dog. I don't think his name is Hancock now.

Funny thing is, he's given to us by another neighbour.

Speaking of neighbour. Two weeks ago the neighbour next door cut some bamboo trees and left it outside. Some of it is blocking our side of the road.

There's actually a fire hydrant under those leaves mind you. As I'm writing now bunch of rubbish, leaves, and whatever is still there. They think the garbage collector will throw those bamboo trees away? Wrong. You have to pay Alam Flora to throw this kind of special rubbish lah woi.





See it blocks a big part or the road outside my house. It may attracts insect or even snake to live under it. Bloody hell doing nothing about it. Expect us to pay someone and throw their rubbish is it?

While their side of the rubbish is neatly arranged to that it won't be an obstacle on their side of the road -_- Lucky it's raining often nowadays, what if someone throw a cigarette butt in it on a sunny day?

It even block my car from parking outside my house. Ah, I got such considerate neighbours. One that give a pet to you, another to take the pet away from you and one more to give you idea to rant in your blog.

My colleague Mike who's just started blogging a month back today showed me a link to a post. This post is exactly a copy and paste of his post about the fuel price hike.

His original post here. The copycat can be so lazy until that he copied it word by word and even the picture is loaded from Mike's hosting server. I know la Internet is free and all that but I think there's also copyright involve. It does not means when we put something on the Internet it can be copy and paste and used by someone as their own work.

Yakult Saves the Day

I was down with a mild food poisoning on Saturday. It is mild because it only consist of shitting fluid until I was dehydrated and lost lots of salt, no vomiting involves. I think the cause is the either the salmons or mussels from the company kick-off dinner in a 5-star hotel. Maybe my immune system was affected in late nights sleeping after 2 weeks of night shift, until the point I can eat uncooked seafood.

Went to see the doctor. The doc prescribed me some pills for stomach ache, diarrhea, gas, antibiotic and 3 packets of salt solution. I was not to eat anything for a day and only drink the salt solution mixed with warm water. When you loses water and salt from your body, you'll feel very tire even after 8 hours of sleep.

After a day of not eating anything but the pills and mixed-salt solution, I got better and started to take some food. After 2 days of recovering from the food poisoining, I found out what goes inside me didn't want to come out. I was having a case of constipation now. My stomach felt bloated.

In the afternoon, I went to Jusco Kepong and bought a packet of Yakult. I was thinking that during the food poisoning, all the good bacteria that help with digestion must have been killed thus resulting of in but not out. So, I have to replennish the good bacteria. Drank two Yakult and felt a bit better. The stomach don't feel bloated. A few hours after that, I litterally can shit again. Wow, Yakult really make my day.

P.S. Now I understand why Timothy has an addiction for this drink.

I'm An Idiot

Ring, ring, ring. The alarm on my mobile phone rang. I checked the time, it's 7.30 a.m. already. "Shit, I'm gonna be late for work". I jump out from bed (literally), changed my clothes and don't even bother to brush my teeth because there's someone in the toilet.

The time now is 8.00 a.m. and I'm still stuck in the traffic jam. I am supposed to be in the office on 8 a.m., that's when my morning shift start. Another half an hour later, alas reach my office. I didn't have time to look for a free parking in the housing area in Bukit Damansara, so I parked in the pay per hour carpark.

Reach my desktop at around 8.40 a.m., started to login. I have to login to the system to sign into the shift attendance. My colleague then start this conversation with me:

Colleague A: Simon, are you coming in to standby for anyone?
Me: No, I'm on shift today.
Collegue A: But according to shift schedule, you're suppose to be on night shift not morning.
Me: What? Is it? *check shift schedule, found out I'm on night shift*
Me: -_- *thinking to myself, WTF?*

So, there you go, woke up early in the morning with only 3 hours of sleep, rush through the morning traffic, pay the RM 4 'First 2 hours' parking fee and come to office and found out I am only needed to be in office in another 11 hours later.

I just pretend to check some mail, and then had my breakfast and then drove home to sleep again. From now on you can call my Idiotic Seow. -______________________________-

Am I Having Insomnia?

Got back home this morning after having Umppuma for breakfast in Nirvana Maju, Bangsar. Changed into comfy T-Shirt and shorts ,then brushed my teeth and hit the bed. I was tossing and turning on the bed for more than 2 hours but still can't seems to get sleepy at all.

My mind was so active that I can't get to sleep. Damn, it must be the Nescafe that I had around 4.30 a.m. So, at around 1p.m., I droved myself to Jusco, Metro Prima to buy new toothbrush and also to fixed my car's remote key access. Had a bowl of Nissin noodle at John Kopitiam (yes, now there's so many kopitiam cafe out there like Pappa, Old Town, Uncle Lim, and etc).

Bought my toothbrush from Jusco and looked for the shop to fix my car's remote key access. Passed by Soda and saw a red shirt on display. Since my company kick-off dinner theme this year is Red & Black and I don't have a red shirt, so I went in asked for an XL sized, tried it and bought it. Cost me RM 89, shit my budget is getting tighter this month.

Went to the Minit Cobbler to fix my remote key access, after some test the person in charge told me is because the battery is low. So, changed the battery for RM 12. Since there's nothing there to do, decided to hit home. Paid the parking for RM 1 (might want to consider applying for Jusco card, can get free parking).

Reached home around 3p.m. Hit the bed. Fuck, still not able to sleep. So, there I was tossing and turning until like 6.30 p.m. and finally I dozed off. Woke up and look at my hand phone. FUCK, it's 8.30p.m., I'm late for work. Reached office and I feel wide awake and not sleepy at all eventhough I only slept for 2 hours. So, am I having Insomnia?

On Standby

Did I say that I don't have to work tonight? Well, you can scrap that off because I was called in to standby for my colleague tonight. Ya, I'm working now. That's my line of work, have to be on standby. Bought a ticket to watch National Treasure: The Book of Secret and was called in. I finished the movie of course, I can come in late.

***banging head on the wall, thinking to self,"I shouldn't have bought the ticket of I Am Legend for 9.20 pm. There goes my RM 10"***

24 Hours Banking my @$$

Am working the graveyard shift again. Went for my lunch (supper) at around 11.55 pm in Damanlela. Look into my wallet and found that I was short of cash. Went to the RHB Bank nearby, saw the sign saying 24 Hours ATM. When I was about to take out my ATM card for withdrawal, all the machines’ screen displayed ‘Sorry, temporary out of service’ (Including the Cash Deposit machine).


I checked the time and it’s 12:00 am. So if the ATM and Cash Deposit stop servicing at 12.00 am. Why the fuck do you put on the 24 hours sign for? What if I need the cash for emergency? So to RHB Bank management, please kindly remove the fucking misleading 24 hours sign in your electornic banking section.


All other banks that says 24 hours banking really does mean it. Another thing is that rhbonline.com.my is not 24 hours also. Try to check my balance online after 12:00 am and will find that the site is under maintenance after I login. Why put the banking online when it only works before 12 am or after 6 am? If it’s fucking normal time, we can check in the branch itself and don’t have to logon to the online banking. In the world of Internet, online means 24 hours availability no matter where I logon from.


So put up a sign in the ATM machine saying 24 Hours Banking My @$$.
