Hong Kong Disneyland

It took me this long to write about my trip to Hong Kong Disneyland is because I all the photos that I took here when my digital camera was pick pocketed during my visit to Ocean Park the next day. I was tired after coming back from Disneyland and didn't transfer the photos to my laptop. Sigh. I have to wait for my sister to upload the pictures from her camera. Alas, the picture I took with Buzz Lightyear is gone because I used my camera to take that picture T_T

At first, we thought of taking the MRT near the hotel at Jordan Station to Hong Kong Disneyland. Then the taxi driver that we hailed to go to the Airport Express told us that it will be almost the same fare for the six of us to take the cab directly to Hong Kong Disneyland. The fare came to about HKD165. This is because there's toll charges included.

This is my first time ever to visit Disneyland. Yes, I don't come from a rich family where my parents can take me to visit Disneyland in USA, Tokyo or Paris when I was small.



Bought 6 passes, two children and four adults. Have to thanks my brother-in-law for this. Photos are taken using my Nokia E7 (it's not officially mine yet at that time, I was still reviewing it for Maxis10 Reviewers Programme)

There's one ride that one must try at Tomorrowland and that will be Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Damn fun this ride. You'll be riding in a moving tram that you can turn 180 degrees and shoot the props there with infra-red gun. If you were able to hit the target it will respond to it. Finally you'll be able to battle with Evil Emperor Zurg.

Even adults will have so much fun in this ride.

After Tomorowland, we planned to go to Fantasyland next. The five of them my mom, my sis, bro-in-law, niece and nephew went on first because I was queuing up to take picture with Buzz Lightyear. T_T no more picture of him and me.

As I was walking to Fantasyland, I got blocked by the Disney Parade. This is one of the ultimate attraction in Disneyland that one must not miss. You'll be able to see almost every main characters in every Disney movie ever made. Of course this includes Mickey and his gang.

Winnie the Pooh

After the Disney Parade finished, we got to Fantasyland. On the way, I bought some popcorn. We then start with Mad Hatter Tea Cups ride. Then we went to Fantasy Garden to take pictures with some of the Disney characters. Every half an hour there will be a change of character there in the four of the pavilions. If you are lucky, you might be able to take picture with 4 different characters every half an hour.

We took pictures with Winnie the Pooh.

Daisy Duck is going for a rest when we finished with Winnie, so no luck taking picture with her.

In the next pavilion, there's Goofy. He's very mischievous -_-

If you are not a fan of Winnie the Pooh. I will recommend that you avoid The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride. Firstly, the queue will be damn long. We waited like an hour to get to the ride, unless you've purchased express pass. Secondly, there's nothing special really about this ride, you just it in a tram and it move one round reading the story from Winne the Pooh. We regretted queuing so long for such a lame ride.

In Fantasyland, you must go watch the 4D show in Mickey Philharmagic. This one, sure you won't regret and the queue is not that long.

It's almost dark after we've done with Fantasyland. So, we have to give Adventureland a miss because the children were already tired. Next time I'll just go to Adventureland first lol. We had dinner in Plaza Inn (owned by Maxim's Group) in Main Street, U.S.A before we go home. We also didn't wait for the fireworks display.

Goodbye Hong Kong Disneyland

We decided to take the MRT back to hotel just because we wanted to see the train with Mickey Mouse's shape windows :p Even the MRT station here feels like we're still living in a Disney movie.

Some hit and misses there on the ride. I'll come back again I promised to explore more.

Oh Sweet Corn! Oh Sweet Corn!

My cousin sister bought back some sweet corn from Cameron Highlands. It's so the sweet and not the sugary sweet but the natural sweetness that you found from fruit. I just took it out from the fridge peel off the skin and bite into it. So juicy and refreshing.

Will surely buy a dozen or two of these young sweet thing if I ever go to Cameron Highlands. Oh, speaking of Cameron Highlands, I miss the sweet potato, fried abalone mushroom and strawberry there too. Anyone going there soon? Can tumpang to buy those yummy back for me? :p

The Moon Represent My Heart

One of 鄧麗君 (Teresa Teng)'s most famous song is 月亮代表我的心 (The Moon Represent My Heart) but there's a scientific report that says the moon is drifting away about 1.5 inches from the Earth every year. If the moon represent my heart then will this means my heart is drifting away from you every year? So when someone sang this song to his/her lover, does this mean he/she loves is degrading? LOL. Okay enough of the nonsense.

Last Saturday, I went back to maternal family's house to have Mid Autumm Festival dinner. Celebrate one day earlier because Sunday don't have to work mah, except for me lah. I have to work on Sunday night. Anyway, it's been a long time I haven't have homemade dinner already, last I think was during this year Chinese New Year when I went to Singapore and my mum cook.

My mum's side has a very big family due to the fact that I have three maternal grand mothers. My mum is the 9th and the youngest daughter and she has two younger brothers which is my 6th and 7th uncle. In short, I have 8 yi ma and 7 kao fu. Most of the cousins are older than me and some are younger than me. Some of the older cousins are married and have children of their own. So you can imagine how big the family is. That is why dinner have to be serve in two tables and separate into two sessions. That night only half of the whole family were there.

It's time to dig in. I was in the first session with my 3 yi ma, 4 kao fu and his wife, 4 yi ma and 4 yi jiong, 6 yi ma, mang kao and his family (youngest kao fu), Ching biu cheh and her family (elder cousin sister), and Ling biu cheh and her family. Some dishes are prepared by 2 kao moh and some are prepared by 4 kao moh. Both are very good cook.




Fish belly and pig stomach soup. Can I name it 雙肚湯 (Double Stomach Soup)?

I think this is the first time I ever drink soup of this combination. If the pig stomach is changed to lamb stomach instead then we'll have a very 鮮 'fresh' soup. Anyway this soup is really tasty, is interesting that this combination works. I had a big bowl that night.

Stir fried mix vegetable with prawn.

This consists of celery, carrot, and a flat bean which tasted a lot like season bean. Best of all is that it's not too oily like most of the stir fried vegetable you eat in the restaurant. I especially like the flat bean. Say yes to home cook food.

Roast duck.

A typical Chinese festive dinner won't be complete without Donald. Yes, that's roast duck to you. It's bought from outside but taste delicious nevertheless. Find that the meat is not overladen with fat like some that I've eaten before. Should have ask my kao moh where she bought it.

If there's duck then there must be chicken too. If goose is very common in Malaysia then we might also find a roast goose on the table too. As Chinese will always has to have 雞鵝鴨 (chicken, goose, and duck) on a festive dinner. A rich family will even add in 豬牛羊 (pork, beef, and lamb). Steamed to the right timing and goes especially well with the soya sauce mixture that my 4 kao moh prepared. I forgot to ask for the recipe :p Too bad there's no 芥末 (Chinese mustard) that night, I always like to eat steamed chicken with a lot of 芥末 and my runny nose will feel so much better lol.

Boiled kai-lan (Chinese broccoli) top with soya sauce, oil and garlic.

Fresh and sweet and not boiled for too long. I ate almost half the plate of kail-lan. Very less oil is used so this is a very healthy dish.

Sorry to say that the best dish of the night is the mixed seafood in broth and I didn't take the picture. The ingredient includes abalone slice, fish belly, squid, octopus, and enoki mushroom. I was so into this dish that I didn't even eat much of the duck and chicken. One word can describe this dish, 鮮. I can't find an English word that can describe the taste, sorry.

Qi gu with pork.

One of the dish that will always find it's way on the table during festive dinner like the reunion dinner during CNY and of course the Mid Autumn Festival dinner. I don't really know how to translate qi gu to English. This dish is too salty to eat on it's own, so we normally wrap it with lettuce and eat.

I think that's all the dishes I ate for that night. It is of course eaten with steamed white rice. Home cook food is always the best and eating eat with your relatives is priceless. Wish you all a belated Happy Mid Autumn Festival here, last but not least...

He salivate when he was sleeping.

He don't really gives me any trouble but papa and mama must teach him some table manners.

My Nephew & My Niece

It's been only 2 months I haven't seen my niece Ruth and my nephew Noah. How they have grown, especially Noah. Their Kai Mah (Godmother) uploaded their recent photos in Facebook. So, I thought I'll do a bit of update in my blog to about them.

This one look a lot like me when I was his age. 28 years ago? That doesn't look like his mum, TBS.
