Redeeming a free meal from Kenny Rogers with Bcard

Two weeks ago I got my Bcard. Why I got the Bcard? Well, it is to go and test it out in some of their merchant and then write about it. This is my experience using Bcard in Kenny Rogers.

So, last week, I went to Kenny Rogers to redeem a meal using the Bcard.

I ordered Cream Chicken Soup and a Dynasty Quarter Chicken meal. Only then I found out that now I can change the muffin with one more side dish. Nice.

When it's time to pay, I tell the staff that I want to use my points in my Bcard to redeem for the bill. The staff will swipe the card, then I'll enter the PIN. Yes this loyalty card comes with a PIN, which I think is very good because other people cannot redeem the points if I lost my card. After approval, the staff will key in the amount and the points will be deducted accordingly.

I forgot to use my 10% discount voucher T_T

And that is how I redeem my free meal from Kenny Rogers using the Bcard. You can sign up for a Bcard free of charge and start collecting points from the participating merchants too. Those participating merchants will have form in their outlet for you to sign up or better yet, sign up now here from one of their participating merchant. Who are the merchants? Click here. Starbucks is one of them too.

Speaking of Starbucks. I have a tip on how to utilize Starbucks Card and Bcard to get you more coffee. When you order in Starbucks, use your Starbucks Card. Do you know that you'll get a free Starbucks coffee after ten coffee you purchased with your Starbucks Card? Not only that, you can collect points using Bcard when you purchase Starbucks coffee using Starbucks Card. So, you'll get a cup of coffee free and also points to redeem.

By the way. Now is a good time to apply for a Bcard and starts collection points because you might win an all expense paid trip to London and other cool prizes.

"Don't forget to take part in the Bcard Swipe and Win contest from 2nd January 2012 to 29th February 2012 to win some cool prizes like an all expense trip to London!! Check it out on www.bcard.com.my for more details."

Valentine's Set from California Pizza Kitchen, Fahrenheit88, Kuala Lumpur

First off, I have to tell everyone that California Pizza Kitchen didn't close down if you can't find it in KLCC anymore. It has shifted to Level 2 of Fahrenheit88 (formerly known as KL Plaza) in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. CPK told me that KLCC want to change concept so did not renew their leased on the lot taken by CPK. Good news is that more outlets is being planned to open around Klang Valley.

Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day is coming soon. While there's no CNY set menu from CPK but from February 1st to the 17th there will be ‘Triple-L Celebration: Longevity, Love & Luck’ dine-in promotions. Diners spending RM30 or more will stand a chance to win up cash and dining vouchers up to RM388 in the restaurant’s Sure Win Festive Draw!

Lucky for those of you that celebrate Valentine's Day, CPK came out with a customized set menu just for Valentine's Day from the period of 12th Feb - 14th Feb 2011. Its set menu for two, which includes a choice of one half-size salad, one pizza, one pasta and two mocktails or sparkling wine at the special price of RM88++. This sweet deal saves diners up to 25% from normal price if order the items à la carte.

I was lucky enough to taste the dishes that is offered in the set menu. For the salads, there is a choice of Thai Crunch Salad or Caesar's Salad.

The Thai Crunch Salad has a more Asian influence with shredded napa cabbage, edamame, crispy wanton, grilled chicken breast, julienne cucumbers, peanuts, cilantro, julienne carrots, red cabbage and green onions tossed with a lime-cilantro dressing. Topped with crispy rice sticks and authentic Thai peanut dressing. This is the second time I had this and still loving it. There's option to add avocado to it. If you like gado-gado, you will love this salad.

Thai Crunch Salad

This is the first time I tasted CPK's Caesar's Salad. The grilled chicken breast is optional top up but they are very generous to add it for us. I found their Caesar's Salad dressing is a bit different from other I've tasted before. CPK's dressing is not too sourish. I found it to be very pleasant eaten the Casesar's Salad here.

Caesar's Salad

For pasta, one will have a choice of either the Kung Po Spaghetti, optional of chicken or shrimp or both lol. I tasted a bean paste in the sauce. A very nice fusion of the East and the West. I prefer it to be a little bit more spicier. A very appetizing pasta.

Kung Po Spaghetti

Or if you prefer the more traditional Spaghetti Bolognaise. The spaghetti is cooked al dente. For those that like tomato, this is the choice of pasta he/she should choose. Generous amount of minced beef that make sure each strand of spaghetti can be eaten with the minced beef.

Spaghetti Bolognaise

The Sausage & Pepper Penne is not my favourite because I have a weird feeling of sausage in pasta lol. It's just a personal taste really, nothing to do with the taste of this dish. The taste is actually not too bad. If you like sausage then go for this by all mean.

For pizza, the is a choice of The Original BBQ Chicken that comes with Barbecue sauce, smoked Gouda and Mozzarella cheeses, BBQ Chicken, sliced red onions and cilantro. The BBQ sauce is really good and goes well with the BBQ Chicken. The cheese just made it tastier. A must order if you like BBQ sauce.

Or one of CPK bestseller. The Peking Duck Pizza. Another fusion that make the pizza not so pizza lol. Low fat cheese is used, so ladies don't worry about the diet. It will be better if the crispy thingy were put at the side instead of on the pizza. More spring onion will be good. It's my personal taste. Some people might like it the other way around. I like the taste of the sauce when eaten with the shitake (Japanese mushrooms) on the pizza. I even tapaoed one whole Peking Duck Pizza home. There's extra. :p

Peking Duck Pizza

My favourite pizza is of course the Pesto Chicken Pizza. Basil always goes very well with pizza. Grilled chicken breast marinated in a basil pesto sauce with mild onions, Mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto sauce and toasted pine nuts. Topped with fresh basil. I'm craving for it again as I am writing this. I can just smell the nice aroma from the fresh basil and basil pesto sauce.

A meal in California Pizza Kitchen won't be complete without eating their dessert like the Red Velvet Cake or Chocolate Souffle Cake. Red Velvet cake is actually dragon fruit mixed with chocolate hence the taste is a bit chocolaty. Natural colour of the dragon fruit is used to get the red.

Red Velvet Cake

Those that like chocolate will probably fell in love with their Chocolate Souffle Cake. Rich in chocolate and top with optional vanilla ice-cream it's a dessert to die for. Coming here for the dessert alone is worth a try.

New Items From California Pizza Kitchen, KLCC

It's been almost more than 6 months since my last visit to California Pizza Kitchen (CPK). After 6 months, it is time again for CPK to bring some new items to their already rich menu that fills with a lot of nice dishes. I have WMW, Coco, WiLee, Sidney, and Rebecca to share all these nice food with. Trust me the portion from CPK is not small.

Sunriser

We starts off with a refreshing Moroccan Chicken Salad (Full RM 32++, Half RM 26++). A bite into the Moroccan-spiced chicken breast really gives me a Middle Eastern kind of taste. Tossed it up with Honey-Dijon vinaigrette, crisp Romaine lettuce, roasted butternut squash, dates, toasted almonds, fresh beets, chopped egg, carrots, dried cranberries, red bell peppers and of course my favourite fresh avocado. A healthy choice of appetizer.

Moroccan Chicken Salad (Full RM 32++, Half RM 26++)

After a cold appetizer, we were warmed up with Sonora Egg Rolls (RM 25++). This is more like a Mexican flavour. Well, American food is like a great melting pot, so you'll get food influenced by different country. Grilled lime chicken, roasted corn & black bean salsa, Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, fire-roasted mild chillies, green onions and cilantro, hand-wrapped in a crispy wonton roll. Quite a filling (pun intended) appetizer. Goes very well with the tomatillo salsa and ranchito sauce.

Sonora Egg Rolls (RM 25++)

New in the Specialty is the Ginger Salmon (RM 43.50 ++). Pan-sauteed Norwegian Atlantic salmon topped with chopped fresh cilantro, green onions and sweet ginger sauce. Served with wok-stirred mixed vegetables. One of my favourite dish of the night. I like the way that the salmon is cooked just at the right timing, which stills leave the juice inside the meat. Overcooked salmon is dry and chunky. The salmon is tasty enough without any sauce but dip a bit of the sweet ginger sauce to enhance the flavour.

Specialty is the Ginger Salmon (RM 43.50 ++)

I can eat the Pesto Cream Penne (With chicken RM 33++, With shrimp RM 36++, With chicken & shrimp RM 39++) everyday and will get bore of it. The basil pine nut pesto cream sauce is right for the penne. It's not overwhelming like carbonara and not too oily like aglio olio. Throw in some sun-dried tomatoes and Parmesan cheese and voila. Thank you WiLee to pose your hands for me to take the picture.

Rebecca the Spirit and WiLee.

There's not one but three new pizzas introduced into the menu starting 1st of July 2010. Let's start off with a meaty Meat Cravers (RM 38++). A combination of sweet Italian sausage, pepperoni, turkey bacon, spicy salami, julienne salami, Mozzarella cheese and CPK tomato sauce. Rebecca and I finds it a bit salty maybe because CPK is too generous with the amount of meat and cheese. I'll recommend a mug of beer to goes with it and it'll be perfect.

The Meat Cravers (RM 38++)

CPK weren't kidding when they named this pizza Cheeseburger Pizza (RM 38++, add turkey bacon RM 4++, add fresh avocado RM 6++). I took a bite and I thought I was eating Big Mac, which only tasted better because the ground beef is not too salty as the latter. Of course there's also the generous amount of caramelized sweet onions, Mozzarella and American cheeses, hearth-baked, and then topped with fresh tomotoes and chilled shredded lettuce tossed in CPK secret sauce. A plus point from me because of the added fresh avocado. I would have eaten one more slice if I don't have to save space for more food. I 'sapued' all the avocado though :p

The Pesto Chicken pizza (RM 31++) seems to be the favourite among the pizzas that night. Why not? Basil always goes very well with pizza. Grilled chicken breast marinated in a basil pesto sauce with mild onions, Mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto sauce and toasted pine nuts. Topped with fresh basil. I'm craving for it again as I am writing this. I can just smell the nice aroma from the fresh basil and basil pesto sauce.

Pesto Chicken (RM 31++)

I downed all those food with a Passion Fruit Mojito. Ah...this is life.

Passion Fruit Mojito

It won't be a perfect dinner in California Pizza Kitchen if we didn't eat our favourite desserts. Red Velve Cake, Tiramisu and Chocolate Souffle Cake. Read my previous post for my review on these wonderful dolce.

Red Velvet cake, this time with ice-cream baby

Chocolate Souffle Cake

It was a wonderful dinner with loads of good food. I won't wait 6 months to come to CPK again with food like these introduced to the menu. There are still the Tuscan White Bean Minestrone soup (Bowl RM 15++, Cup RM 11++) and Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad Sandwich (RM 31++) that I haven't try yet from the new items added into the menu.
