A Rude Awakening

It was around 12pm on a Saturday and I was half asleep and half awake. My company phone rang. I work in IT support so if my company phone rang then it means that some urgent IT issue that needed me to check. So of course I became fully awake and answered the call. I see the caller ID, the number is 03-78850692. Which is not the support number from my company. So, I half suspected that it is a wrong number call. Here's the conversation.

Woman Caller: May I speak to Ting Seok Ping?

Me: Sorry, you've got the wrong number. (I've received many wrong numbers call on this phone before so it's kind like a norm for me.)

Woman Caller: Are you sure it's the wrong number? May I know your name, sir?

Me: Why do I need to give you my name?

Woman Caller: I'm calling from Maharaj & Partners and you are using my customer's number. Of course I need to know your name. (What?!! Do I care if this is your customer's number?)

Me: This is my company's number.

Woman Caller: How long have you been using this number?

Me: I...(before I could answer she cut in)

Woman Caller: What's your phone number? Is it 012-xxxxxxx?

Me: (I need to recall the phone number because I don't remember. I've only been using this number not long ago. It was passed down from the my predecessor)

Woman Caller: It's okay. I'm not going to waste anymore time on this. (And she hung up.)

I was like WTF. Not even an apology? Who's the in the wrong? You called my number, I answered politely that it's a wrong number, there's no such person. Usually I'll get a "Oh, so sorry." and ended the call. This one, ask personal question and got rude when I don't tell her my name. Lastly, she said I was wasting her time? WTF?! Who is wasting who's time? You woke me up from my sweet slumber on a weekend just to be asked some stupid question rudely and I was wasting your fucking time? Now this is what I called "a rude awakening" literally.

Brace yourself, ladies and gentlemen. The pinnacle of H-Artistry, the finale and might be one of the best H-Artistry for 2012 is coming real soon. How soon? In less than a month soon. In before Deepavali soon. In 3rd November 2012 soon.

It's time to party like never before. Those that had fun with in the last H-Artistry will know what I meant. What's the performers and DJs line up this time?

Alexandra Burke

Alexandra Burke from North London. She's also the 2008 winner of The X Factor, a three-time chart-topper on the singles chart (her debut, a stirring cover of Hallelujah, sold 105,000 copies on its first day of release) and the creator of a UK number 1 album, Overcome, that features collaborations with the likes of Flo Rida Ne-Yo and RedOne. She can belt out a ballad and she brings energy in abundance once the tempo shifts up a gear.

Block B

It's the time of the KPOP craze now more than ever. H-Artistry knows that and that's why they brought in Block B. Started out by hip-hop artist and producer Cho PD under his label Brand New Stardom, Block B was among the hottest K-Pop rookies to debut last year, and they have come a long way since. With three hugely successful records out, namely New Kids On The Block, Welcome To The Block and Do You Wanna B, Block B is one of the fastest rising K-Pop boy bands internationally, and have garnered lots of attention as well as a huge following throughout Asia.

Havana Brown

House music lover will know who Havana Brown is. It's time to bring da house down. Since firmly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the Australian and international DJ scene, Havana Brown’s hustle hasn’t slowed for a minute. As the only female DJ to sign a major label recording deal in Australia, Havana has delivered on Universal Music’s expectations with multiple releases of her Crave compilation series, all charting and spurning successful national and international club tours. DJ Havana Brown has since put out some hugely successful tracks, and continues to take over Malaysian dance floors and airwaves with the euphoric track “We Run The Night” ft. Pitbull.

The talented Australian DJ also holds down three hugely successful weekly radio spots. With over a 1-million-strong cult following on her weekly sets, Havana owns the Australian and European airwaves through the Austereo network and Radio FG France – one of Europe’s most popular dance radio networks and home to some of the world’s biggest DJ’s including David Guetta, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Armin Van Buuren, Bob Sinclar and others.

As the USA’s dance music scene continues to come of age on a widespread scale and different styles proliferate and evolve, new talents are coming thick and fast. However, only a few have the staying power to go the distance. Formerly known as Nick Terranova, Las Vegas talent Starkillers has been cutting a swathe through the bolshier end of the global house music scene over the last few years with his tough-edged, eclectic sound.

Blending big hooks and riffs, soaring vocals, thumping beats and mind-bending effects trickery, his sound is the perfect blend of high-octane, fierce energy and accessible appeal. It’s truly at home amidst the contemporary sound of cutting-edge dance music. “I’m A.D.D” he explains of the hyperactive nature of his music. “I really just try to make my sound as crazy as I can without being too far left that people don’t get it” he says.

Where will it be held?

For an event this big, of course we need a big space. The Pinnacle of H-Artistry will take place in Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) in Mines Resort City this 3 November 2012 from 8.30pm onwards. Google Map Link:

Complimentary mineral will be provided throughout the night, and food stalls will also be available outside the venue for everyone to recharge during and after the event.

Join in the H-Artistry finale this 3 November by watching this space for your chance to win invites: Also be sure to download the MY Hennessy App NOW from the App Store or Google Play onto your iOS and Android devices. H-Artistry is open to non-Muslims above the age of 18 only.

Special Event Notice

The carpark of MIECC will be closed. A tip from me is you can park in the MINES Shopping Mall carpark or use the shuttle available. There will also be a subsidized taxi service made available for H-Artistry in collaboration with Sunlight Taxi. Keep it locked on at for regular updates and details. Visit or call 1300 800 222 to book your ride to H-Artistry.

See you all there! Let's party!

Arthur's Day Celebration at Beer Factory

This year's Guinness Arthur's Day was celebrated in 3 different venues. Namely Souled Out, Laundry Bar and The Beer Factory. Each venue will have different singer. Since I wanted to see Justin Lo, so I chose to come to The Beer Factory in Sunway Giza.

I first bumped into Clover who was working part-time there.

After a while Chutipond was here too.

The first band on the stage.

Then one of my favourite band from the 6 bands they have, "Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob" continued to rock da house down.

In between break, I went to Arthur's Lounge to buy a Guinness duck beak cap and two Guinness chocolate bar.

Will Ng was up after "Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob". His singing was okay only.

Got the chance to take picture with the MC of the night. The gorgeous Stephinie Tan.

Finally, at 11.30 pm, Justin Lo went up on the stage. Started with a fast song of "决战二世祖"

He sang few songs until 12 midnight, and it's time to countdown for Arthur's Day one by one live in the three outlets.

To Arthur! And the party continued with almost endless flow of Guinness Draught.

GAB’s Oktoberfest Launch

Wow. Time flies. This year's time seems to pass faster than last year or maybe it's just that I am getting old. It's October already! We are in the last quarter of 2012. October also means Oktoberfest is here again.

Even before October, I was already celebrating it during GAB's Oktoberfest launching last month in The Social, Publika. Oh, I got myself a limited-edition GAB’s Oktoberfest 1L Ceramic Mug too. Don't jelly ah.

What more, I can taste all the beer under GAB's belt. For, Oktoberfest, I of course choose the beer from German, Paulaner.

Hey, I get to make new friends with beer.

Making friend with the Chong sisters.

You want to join in the fun too? No worries. Apart from its stellar portfolio of Tiger, Guinness, Heineken, Anchor, Strongbow, Kilkenny and Paulaner, GAB will pay homage to the world’s most well known beer celebration by bringing in the original Oktoberfest beer from Munich, Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier.

To further make beer lovers’ happy hours happier, GAB has planned an extensive beer promotions campaign at all consumers’ touch points including pubs and bars, coffee shops, restaurants and retail outlets. No Oktoberfest is complete without the iconic beer stein or mug and this year, GAB’s Oktoberfest will feature a limited-edition 1L Ceramic Mug – a piece that beer lovers will be able to take home with every purchase of 1L of Tiger Beer.

I know you want one of this limited-edition mug.

Are you sure you don't want this limited-edition mug?

Don't worry, you get to have one of the limited-edition mug. With so much love in the air, GAB is pulling all stops to ensure that their fans’ affections will be well reciprocated. Apart from attractive beer promotions, beer lovers will also be treated to a limited-edition 1L Ceramic Mug, the quintessential Oktoberfest staple when they purchase 1L of Tiger Beer.

At selected Bars and Clubs:
Take home a limited edition GAB’s Oktoberfest 1L Ceramic Mug with each 1L Tiger beer purchase.
At selected Supermarkets:
Consumers who purchase their beers from retail outlets such as Cold Storage, Mercato, Village Grocer and Jaya Grocer will enjoy store discount.

Refreshment outlets (i.e Coffee shops and Chinese restaurants):
For every purchase of any three big bottle of Tiger, Guinness or Anchor, consumers will get a discount of RM3. Consumers can also enjoy the flexibility to pair any of the three bottles between the three provided selections, to suit each individual’s preference.

To add more excitement, GAB is introducing a Facebook activity called the Biermeister, where beer lovers can hunt for more rewards. Log on to GAB’s Oktoberfest Facebook page from September 17 –October 31 daily.

“Prost” to your love for beer.
