Blackie and I in Samurai Showdown

When I was still in high school, there was this fighting arcade game called Samurai Showdown that I used to play. In there, there was a character named Galford D. Weller. He's an American Ninja. He's fighting style is of course using Ninjistsu, something like Naruto, the can fake being hit and turn into a piece of wood. On top of using his Ninjistsu, he also has a pet Siberian Husky named Poppy that will charge towards enemy when he calls out "Go! Poppy".

Gerald and Poppy

That time I always imagined myself as the character and has a pet dog that will charge towards enemy at my command. I will go on an adventure of traveling around the world challenging different samurais and ninjas and my pet dog, let's call him Blackie, will fight by my side and do straight charge, teleport on top of enemy, and create illusions of myself to confuse the enemy. So cool right to have a pet dog that can do Ninjitsu.

Well, of course that was just my day dreaming. In reality, Blackie don't even know how to play fetch. All he knows is 'sit', 'hand', and 'down'. He is one strong dog though and like to jump at people that he likes. But I did teach him to do Wing Chun once :p

Doing Wing Chun wtf

Speaking of adventure. There will be one adventure that I wouldn't miss next month. That will be The Adventures of Tintin in 3D which will be premiering on 10th November 2011. It's one of my all time favourite comic made into movie. I watched the trailer in cinema, and this freaking good.

If you are fan of Tintin, then you shouldn't miss the opportunity to win some cool merchandise from United International Pictures Malaysia (UIP).

My Nuffnang Story

I started blogging actively back in December 2007 and back then I already signed up for a Nuffnang account and serve Nuffnang ads in this blog of mine even before I have more than 20 unique visitors daily. Nuffnang has just started operation for a few months back in 2007 but already they have quite many bloggers signed up. Before that I thought Nuffnang is spelled Nuffang :p Never did I know that by joining Nuffnang I will get to meet a lot of other bloggers in the community. The first Nuffnang event that I went to is Nuffnang 1st Birthday Bash, which they themed it as "Nuffnang Pajama Party" that happened on 15th of March 2008. At that time, there are only Nuffnang Malaysia and Nuffnang Singapore, so the party is held in KL and Nuffnang brought two buses load of Singapore bloggers here. I get to met not only bloggers from Malaysia but from Singapore too. Isn't it cool. I also remember Valerie (the newly crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2011) then won the Best Pajamas, she made her pajamas with Chipsters packets. I also get the opportunity to see some very famous bloggers like Kenny Sia, Xia Xue and Dawn Yang.

I still remember that Ringo was still competing in Malaysian Dreamgirl at that time. They were there to make an appearance for the online reality show. So, she was so happy to be able to meet her blogger friends because she has stay in a house with the other 11 girls during the show. Cindy (winner) and Hanis (2nd runner up) were in the same reality show too. They are now very famous bloggers themselves and they both signed up with Nuffnang too.

That was also the time I first met with Spinzer. He's the web admin for Cheeserland.com while she's locked away in the show. He came up to me to exchange email so that I can send him the picture I took for Ringo with Xia Xue.

After I got a taste of event organized by Nuffnang, I tried to join each and every event. Also, I get the opportunity to go to event organized by Nuffnang's client such as the first Hennessy Artistry I went to and many more Henessy Artistry events later. Down the road, there are so many events like "Nuffnang Wild Live Blogging Party", "Nokia Nuffnang Silent Halloween", "LG Blog Launch", "Tiger Nuffnang Standout Party", "Ogawa Bloggers Gathering" and a lot more that I am lazy to write down here :p

I got my first taste of doing advertorial when I was chosen to take part in the Mr. Potato campaign. My leader was Nicole. After that I got a lot of opportunity in covering events like Urban Hulk and even the official blogger for Malaysian Dreamgirl Season 2. I was quite actively doing advertorial from then onwards, which earned me a four figure side income for two years. Not bad for a small potato blogger like me. I even get to go on a sponsored trip to Singapore Grand Prix 2010 and visit Team Lotus garage pit.

Besides events, I also had the chance to go to a lot of movie screenings for free thanks to Nuffnang, some movies are shown a week before the official premiere date. Sometime I get to attend press screening which is movie screening only for the media, a privilege previously only for journalists, radio DJs and TV station. One of the most unforgettable Nuffnang event that I was able to join is the 1st Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards back in 2009. It was held in Singapore and we bloggers from Malaysia filled up three buses to go across the Causeway. Best of all, it's an all paid trip from transport to accommodation to tour of Singapore. Oh, how I miss the trip. By that time Nuffnang has already expanded to Australia and Philippine.

Joanne Peh won the Best Celebrities Blog. Not everyday I can take pic with a SG celebrity ;)
Joining Nuffnang really change my lifestyle a lot. I from someone that stays at home most of the time to someone that has become a "social animal" as what Nicole always call me. Because of the Nuffnang events, parties and screenings, I get to know a lot of people and meet some celebrities in the process. I also get to go to different activity like sharing session, concert, food hunt and etc, especially after the forming of Nuffnang Glitterati Plus Malaysia. I was lucky to be selected as one of the pioneer member of GPlusMY. Most of the bloggers I met are in my 1055 of friends in my Facebook account. Every time I will meet new people in the events that I went to and the age of the people I met is getting younger and younger. Made me feel young too wtf. I have slowed down a bit in the events and screenings nowadays but still I can't the thank Nuffnang enough for the monetary and non-monetary benefits that it gave me during this four years of blogging. This is My Nuffnang Story. Come 16 December 2011, 500 bloggers from around the Asia-Pacific region will flock to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011 in Putrajaya Marriott. The Awards aims to not only honour the region's best bloggers, but also to bring together blogger communities from across Asia-Pacific. The Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards is brought to you by Volkswagen Malaysia and Putrajaya Marriott. Hopefully this will get me an invite to the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2011. *fingers crossed*

Mikan Japanese Cuisine & Bistro, Maju Junction Mall

I went to Maju Junction for the first time yesterday evening because two friends invited me for dinner at Mikan Japanese Cuisine & Bistro there. I was early so I walked around and I saw that there's one Esprit Outlet shop there. I always thought Esprit Outlet is only found in Hong Kong :p For those that is confused, Esprit Outlet is another branching from Esprit that sells out of season Esprit clothing at a cheaper price than the price before.

Back to the dinner. We started with Chawan Mushi. The steamed egg is silky smooth and soft. I like the fact that there's still a bit of the stock that made the steamed egg not too dry. The shitake in the egg gave an added aroma to the Chawan Mushi. A must try in Mikan I dare say.

As with any high quality Japanese restaurant in town, the seafood here is freshly airflown. So you will be sure of a fresh sashimi here. The sashimi moriawase we ordered consist of ebi (prawn), butter fish, salmon, tako (octopus) and hotate (scallop). I especially like the butter fish and prawn, I think amai ebi is used hence the sweet tasting raw prawn meat. All you need is a drop of shoyu and it's enough to enhance the sweetness of the raw prawn meat. Also take note that the purple coloured thingy is not a deco but a kind of seaweed that can be eaten. It's quite nice too.

The soft-shelled crab salad here is not similar with the one I had in other Japanese restaurant chain. First is the salad dressing here is different and the type of greens used is also different. Can't really says which is better but both are quite nice.

Friend wants to take picture of me. So, as a blogger, I happily accepted the proposal.

The Saba Shioyaki here is bigger than what I usually had. Grilled to perfection and the meat is tender and the juice and fish oil are left intact.

I chose Unagi Kabayaki as my main and it didn't dissapoint. The unagi is big, fat and juicy. My chopsticks can get to the meat effortlessly. I ordered a bowl of Evian cooked rice (the rice here is imported Japanese rice and is cooked with Evian mineral water). One must order a bowl to taste the different of the rice cooked here and the rice in other restaurants.

Friend recommended the Grilled Salmon Belly. I know why because the salmon belly just melts in my mouth when I put it in. The mayonnaise and the shoyu sauce were there to enhanced the taste. Another dish that goes very well with the Evian cooked rice. Lots of Omega-3 oil too ;)

Grilled Prawn with White Truffles Sauce is another dish to die for. Usually they will use bigger prawn like Tiger Prawn but it's out of stock so we have to settle for a smaller size prawn. The prawn is grilled to the right timing where the meat is cooked yet still tender and juicy. I like the added aroma that the white truffles sauce gave the prawn and also the bit of char-grilled smell.

I like the beef in the sukiyaki that is very tender. I can chew the beef effortlessly. One thing though is that sukiyaki is better finished while it's still warm, if it's cold the sweet taste from mirin will overpowered the soup.

Fried small shrimps courtesy of Chef Machi. This dish will goes very well with beers.

Friends were raving all over about the Chicken Teriyaki here. Yes, the chicken meat is soft, smooth and tender while the skin still have a bit of crispiness. The teriyaki sauce is not too sweet and didn't overwhelmed the chicken. Friend told me that during lunch time the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Set here only sells for RM24++ which comes with chawan mushi, miso soup and fruits. Now that's a bargain because the ala carte Chicken Teriyaki sells for RM22++.

Thanks to my friends for bringing me here. Another good Japanese restaurant to go to in Klang Valley.
